FanStory wrote to A. Louise Robertson: Unaware finished first in the contest "Lonely Poem"
    A. Louise Robertson: This is wonderful news. Thank you to the FanStory community for your support and votes. This poem is based in part on the loneliness the pandemic has inflicted on most of us as we are secluded. But also, as I get older, I do feel less and less visible not only to the world at large, but even to family members who, at times, seem to dismiss or disregard what I'm saying as if I'm too old to have anything worth listening to. -

FanStory wrote to A. Louise Robertson: My Only Love finished first in the contest "Mysterious package"

FanStory wrote to A. Louise Robertson: Your Cross finished first in the contest "mental illness"
    A. Louise Robertson: This such an honor. Thank you for the votes FanStory members, I am always grateful for your support of my poetry and short stories. This particular poem was written in dedication to family members who have suffered and some who still do with mental illness. It is my hope that in my lifetime we can educate our society to appreciate the significance of helping those who are afflicted with this life-altering disease. We simply must stop making judgments when we don't understand the actions of the mentally ill. We must reach out and find them the help that is available, as we would if they were afflicted with any other disease (diabetes, epilepsy, etc.) Please help to get mental illness out of the closet and open for discussion so that understanding and care can be administered to those who are in so much pain. -

A. Louise Robertson: I was thrilled this morning when I read that the poem I wrote for the Father's Day contest had received All Time Best Status recognition. (Fathers Day, My Boy) The poem is a tribute to the hard work and caring concern my son extends to his family each and every day. As the oldest of my four children, he has set a wonderful example of good fatherhood, despite the fact that he did not have a dad who was there for him. Our family is blessed with this man and I wanted him to know that what he does is seen and appreciated. Fathers Day is the time for that.

FanStory wrote to A. Louise Robertson: Getting High finished first in the contest "Phobias"

A. Louise Robertson: I have faith that mankind can come out ahead after our current problems - racial injustice can be healed and we can learn to treat each other as equals. The virus can be cured and a vaccine will be developed.
My faith assures me that if we do the Will of God we can be better people and be a healthy society. But, it has to be a universal effort. I am praying every day that God sends us the Grace to bring about the change.
mrsmajor: God promised never to leave us alone, so no matter how difficult it get's He's with us. While we are watching the turmoil, that's all around the world, the racial injustice, and the loss of life, due to the CoronaVirus, in God's own time, all will be well.

May God forever keep your name in His memory and grant you His Grace...Amen.

A. Louise Robertson: I have written poetry all my life and find that it helps me express my thoughts more clearly than in any other way. As a child I was fortunate to live in a household where poetry and books were appreciated. My father wrote very beautiful verse. One of the love poems he wrote for my mother was published in the Stars and Stripes during World War II. On Sunday evenings after dinner, he would read to the family from his favorite book of poems.
Now that I am a grandmother I enjoy writing more than ever. Although I have written and published novels, I find that going back to poetry really make me happy, to me it is the ultimate way to disclose what I feel. I am thankful for the opportunity to share my words here.

I was born in New York City and spent my childhood on Long Island, in a very traditional New York suburb. I rode my bike, played hopscotch and hide and seek 24/7 with my neighborhood friends. We were the baby boomers - the kids born a few months after out dads returned from World War II. We lived in the tract housing built specifically to be affordable to the returning vets.
Our family moved to Southern California when my dad was transferred with A&P as they attempted to expand this East Coast supermarket chain and make it truly an Atlantic and Pacific company.
I attended high school and college in the Pasadena area, - became a Legal Assistant and worked in that capacity for over thirty years. During that time I married and had four beautiful children.
Many adventures, ups and downs later, I was blessed with seven grandkids who the sun rises and sets on. I have written and published three books and I'm finishing the first draft of my next novel.
I was thrilled to find FanStory, since I have always loved writing poetry. My dad used to read poetry to us at the dinner table on Sunday evenings and was quite a wonderful poet himself. One of the poems he wrote to my mother during the war was pubished in the Stars and Stripes military newspaper.
I will write until I keel over - I swear I have ink in my blood.
