lightink: Good news! We have filled up all the spots for the co-created Wreath of Sonnets on the topic of climate change.
I welcome suggestion regarding the contest for the master sonnet.
The Death: It's a great idea to have a contest for it, so that all of us can decide which one is the best. About the contest specifications, you can limit the number of contestants to 16 or 12 - depending on the number of team members willing to participate - so that not many non-team members can participate. Also, you can restrict the right to vote only to the ones who review every entry. That way, quality voting can be assured...at least to some extent, as not everyone will be interested in reviewing every entry. Otherwise, we can also have a team-exclusive voting, separate from the booth, as only the fellow writers will be able to understand which sonnet's lines are strong enough to be used effectively for other sonnets.
    -
lightink: Thank you, Anupam! I love your ideas! Thank you for taking the time to think it through with me. Let's see what the other's say! -
michaelcahill: The problem with the restrictions is that the entrants can't vote. It's best to leave it open. Input is input, yes? Take it all in and the team is still the team. -
lightink: Michael, if I put a voting-after-reviewing-all -entries restriction on the contest, it means that those who enter the contest can't vote?
(For they cant review themselves?) -
Mystic Angel 7777: I think you are handling it well, Jyoti! You have some very good writers in the group (I exclude myself) and I think it will work to the benefit of the overall finished product to have them judge internally what they wish to work from .... I am thinking it will be wonderful. -
lightink: Dear Angel, I am very pleased to have all these wonderful poets on the team. Please don't exclude yourself! Your sweet, sensitive and inspirational words are perfect addition to the team. Also, having people from all over the world is such a beautiful symbol of the international cooperation that should happen to address climate change! -

lightink: Sonnet Lovers!

I would love to brainstorm about an ambitious idea I have.
I would like collaborate with another 14 poets to create a crown of sonnets about
climate change.

Real Shakespearian crown of sonnets - iambic pentameter, turn and rhymes.

Each sonnet starts with the last line of the previous one - and the first lines add up an extra sonnet called "master sonnet".

First of all, the Master sonnet would have to be written -
then, the first and last lines of the sonnets to write could be distributed to those who are interested in joining.

I have quite a few questions about how to possibly make this happen:

1 Who would like to join me?
2, How would we chose the Master Sonnet writer?
Ideas:
- creating a regular contest and let Fanstory people pick...
-making it into a challenge and only the ones participating in the collaboration would vote
-just picking one really trustworthy member to write it (no competition) -but how?
3, would we come up with a series of subtopics regarding climate change to make sure we don't have 12 draught poems? Any suggestions for subtopics?
4, Here's a big one - how would we use the final product?
-creating a book, print it... etc

Please let me know if you have any ideas and if you would like to join me...
I already have one lovely and trustworthy volunteer :)...

If we end up with 30 volunteers, we could create even two of those (maybe one on climate change and one on some humanistic thing...) I might be overly optimistic here...

Anyways, thank you in advance!
    I am Cat: I'd love to join! ❤️ -
    tfawcus: Count me in. -
    visionary1234: Me too! :)Sharyn -
Dorothy Farrell: And me - Dorothy x -
Dorothy Farrell: OMG - what have I just done (only joking) - I don't mind slogging my guts out - it's still 'And me' Dorothy x -
RGstar: And me, if I have time :) -
lightink: Wow! Thank you for all these gracious offers! We finally reached a full house for the sonnet section. I am heartbroken that I can only put Dorothy and RG Star on the waitlist. However, I would love some other structured poetry from you guys into the climate change book. If you are interested, I am more than happy to send updates.
Thank you everyone who showed interest and joined the brainstorming! -
