    nor84: Do your homework and check out any prospective publishers with Preditors and Editors. Also, query their name and the word 'scam' and you may get a lot of information from the Net. Writers' Digest publishes books listing publishers and agents. -
    JB Lynn: Writer's Digest is your best resource for thousands of reputable publishers. They release a new directory every year for about $25-$30 USD. It's probably one of the most trusted sources in the world, plus they have loads of helpful essays/information in the book about breaking into the publishing world, the best techniques for submitting your work, and how to get your manuscript in publishable shape.
