Ekim777: Ideally speaking, I would like to share similar ideas regarding reviews and the work, to form a relationship . Too often I feel that we misunderstand each other.
    --Turtle.: Thinking of misunderstandings, Sometimes I think we are a group of hammers, nails, flowers, and water all jumbled together.

    Sometimes hammers hit flowers and nails get sprinkled with water.

    Hammers help nails and make flowers sad (no matter how gentle or helpful the tap).

    Water makes flowers happy and nails get a bit rusty (no matter how much sunshine is applied).

Ekim777: I find theater the grandest form of creative writing and I have submitted five full length plays. I have already posted in full, 3 novels, 3novellas. 18 short stories and loads of poetry. I am at present compiling a collection of 18 short stories all of which have appeared in Fan Story since May 2011. Again, dialogue is my favorite form of writing though it is the most difficult challenge.

    I lead a very normal childhood with two parents who loved me deeply. I have no aspirations to go on a killing spree, hack up young virgins beneath a silv'ry moon...but my muse often does.

    No, I believe it is the realities of life which form our proclivities for those things we feel compelled to write about. Good, or bad.

Ekim777: I'm pretty prolific with at least 300 subjective lyrical poems. I enjoy writing short stories and novellas with an air of mystery and a touch of the uncanny. My latest interest is theater and have written four plays. Writing for the stage is the neatest form of writing to my mind.I am told that my creations hold interest. I say if you haven't a good story to tell don't try to write one.
    Ricky1024: So true, I write through the eyes to the brain, stopping along the way to chat with my mind for a moment.Then right off through the central nervous system to your core or heart. I take a lot of notes there and listen to what my mind, body then heart.
    Then off I go again to the soul, don't ask me how I do that I just do!I spend most of my time here so I bring my Apple Mac. along.other times when I'm tired and lazy, i bring my sexy secretary{Miss Star Buckner}along with me.39-24-36.

    You have 13 fans, but you don't follow anyone. Life is give and take.

    Try to appreciate imagery and depth in others' writing, and try not to lecture, would be my humble advice. That's what I, and the vast majority of members on here do.

    From my experience of your reviews, as well-meaning as they may be, you seem more content in lecturing and giving examples of your own writing, than looking deeply and appreciating the words of others.

    This is in no way meant as a personal attack, just an overall impression, which I accept may be wrong.

    It was very hurtful to read Ekim's statement that I was trying too hard to be a poet, even though what I am writing comes straight from my heart... I might not know in detail the art of sonnets, monotetra and all of the techniques of poetry yet (it is just like a country musician or any other genre that plays music by ear, without the knowledge of note reading, counterpoint, harmony, etc).
    But what I do know for sure is that such a comment hurt me, and highly discouraged from writing again for a while or from being in contact with my own emotions. It was challenging to take those words kindly.
    That's what we are in this great website for, to learn (myself included) and to enjoy the works of others, growing together... and I will continue to learn and absorb things until the day I die.
    I am glad to see that I am not alone in struggling with Ekim's reviews.

    Jacq77: Judging by some of the comments here, Ekim777 has upset a few people. I can understand why. Is someone like this qualified to make such judgements on others peoples' writing??? There are many things I would like to say, but, out of courtesy for this great site, I will not. I'll leave it to your imaginations. Earl of Oxford's words were "gold". With respect! :-) -
    Jmmercer: A good review is not a five star review that offers nothing in the way of criticism. However, a good review is also polite and sensitive, containing only constructive criticism. Telling someone that they should start with smaller pieces because they are simply not cut out to write a novel length piece is both rude and condescending. I can take criticism, but I cannot tolerate the abhorrently rude. -
    Robert Loy Gonzalez: Ekimm is a good reviewer atleast to me--A 23 year old with no writing background yet alone writtimg experiences that I can only speculate half the time. I'm sure if I wasn't good enough to write. He would of said something negative to me. Instead he wrote a very detailed and interesting review. Great review - would love to see more like him. -

    Rosalyne: Being able to critique well is a gift. Having learned from the best in the industry, subtly without attack is most beneficial to learning and advancing. I'd like to share my method, which is referred to as the "Oreo cookie." Begin with something nice to say, even if you don't agree with what was written, there's always a word, phrase or character that stands out. Secondly, you offer your critique, not by attacking, lecturing or downing someone's creativity, but by offering constructive criticism that will help a person move forward as a writer. Thirdly, end your review with a positive. Your goal as a reviewer is to help encourage, and advance a writer forward. Demeaning and hateful reviews hurt all. Please keep this in mind when you approach others. Thank you. -
    Jim Lorson Sr: Another pompous individual that has it embedded in his egotistical way that none of us knows how to compose. I have been on site for 5 years and has been reviewed and mentored by some of our finest authors and poets. They have helped to elevate writing skills immensely. I do not care about my rank, but, I care more for the quality of the poem or story. I trust in my mind that this person is truly not one of them or us.     Jane Johnson: Geez! Ditto to everyone on here! I had a poem reviewed the other day and was given great advice and I made the changes without hesitation. I am here to learn also, but when someone attacks everything I write in the fashion that you do Ekim, I have to wonder about you and your deep seeded issues. I would prefer that you don't read my work at all, because you make me feel that you think you are superior in some way. I appreciate your poetry and if I didn't I would bypass it and have at times to avoid being rude and giving you an unbelievably low mark on something that everyone else truly enjoyed and understood. Read and reread until you understand it and even read the author's notes. You have reviewed mine and been way off base with your understanding of what I wrote. I think the only reason that one person here actually gave you a good word, is because you are not intimidated by a person that admits to being inexperienced in writing poetry. When he gets better, he too will see see you as the pompous individual you are....rude and egotistical....trying to make other people feel bad to make yourself feel good. I share Rosalyn's advice for you. -
