I've been seriously attempting to write for 3-4 years, but I've always wanted, dreamed, and/or imagined myself doing it.

In the interim I worked as a secretary, a clerk, got a Bachelor's degree in political science, went to law school, failed the California bar exam 6 times, went back to school for a Master's degree in political science, fell in love, and changed majors to English/creative writing.

It was only then, I finally felt home. What a revelation--I've never been happier and have never felt as much joy as I do when writing. I've found it to be very hard work (totally unexpected) but every edit, every search for the right word, and every re-arrangement of sentences, paragraphs, and/or phrases is utter delight to me. I have a feeling a few of you here can relate to me.
