Belinda:

Hi, friends. I've been here for exactly two years now. I don't know whether I have grown as a person besides getting older. But one thing for sure: your reviews, comments, corrections, support, have made me a better writer. It does not necessarily mean I write better posts (it's not for me to judge), but day by day I find it easier for me to write in English! And guess what? On this particular day I get a surprise: I win the Light and Sweet poetry contest! For everything, I thank you all so much!

Hi, all. I've just upgraded my profile. I'm still me, of course. I just want to refresh this page and myself, after being absent from the site for two months. Now I'm back ... :)

prophetess: Yeah right Belinda, are you trying to get people kicked off with your contest? LoLoL!!! I wouldn't suggest that people voice their true opinions if it's anything other than positive. Sounds good though and good luck with it. Just my opinion.

Jeannee DeWolfe: I have to ask a question. When you get a publishing offer what do you think is a good percentage to give them, or a good percentage that they give you?

I have received an offer and I am confused. I'm not sure I like the percentage breakdown.

Feel free to private message me if you wish.

    Thank you

Hi, this is an upgraded version of my profile:

I'm a free lance writer, translator and editor based in Jakarta, Indonesia. I do my job mostly in my own language, but once in a while I get assignments in English too. Since becoming a Fanstory member two years ago (starting May 2009) writing in English became less and less a problem to me.

My love for the English language originated far back in my past, when my siblings and I had a live-in teacher, an Englishman who taught us his language, told us stories, and even subscribe us to a couple of British comics.

This interest grew when, after high school, I studied at the Faculty of Letters, English Department.

After graduation I landed several 'odd' jobs until I got the one of my dreams, as writer/editor of a teenage magazine. During my long career in the media, I stayed in the group of magazines, moving from one magazine to the other. I was most fulfilled when I became editor-in-chief of a parenting magazine, which enabled me to visit other parenting magazines in Germany, the Netherlands, and USA.

It was during my early employment in this group that I became attracted to story writing. At first it was to fill in the pages, but later on it became a favorite pastime and a need. I also published a collection of short stories and two short novels.

At present I live only with my husband, as our two children have already had families of their own. Once in a while I spend some time with my three granddaughters, now aged 10, nearly 7 and nearly 5, telling them stories and sharing with them the wonder of words.

From our own Sandra Leon-Gonzalez:

Introducing Life Through Poetry and Art. Enjoy poetry reflecting the highs and lows of life, but ultimately seeing the light in every situation.

Having experienced tough challenges and learning to bounce back from life’s inevitable setbacks, she desires to share hopefulness, even when it seems that all is lost.

These poems are about a life’s journey through self-evaluation, seeing oneself in a positive space while asserting self-empowerment, growth and acceptance of the “new you”. The author also points out that it is important to identify negative energy, deflect them in their path, and forge ahead to the best part of oneself while embracing the beauty of art and poetry.
