Linda Engel: YES! YES! YES! So happy and excited for you. Which one did they sign? I am so proud. You were the first one I read when I joined Fan Story. Now i can say , I know this guy. -
Michaelk: Thanks, Linda. I'm super excited too! It's One on one that they signed. I'm still working on Secrets, which is the One on one sequel.
    -
Linda Engel: One on One was totally AWESOME. If you haven't read this story , please do. (now you can buy the book). Takes place in a prison and has a great ending. Mike you're the best. Can't wait to see how you progress with Secrets. I'm ready for the rest of that story. Can we but One on One? I want my hubby to read it. -
Michaelk: It's just been accepted. I still need to work with the publisher's editor. It should be out by sometime next year. When I know a release date, I'll pass that information along. -
Dean Kuch: Way to go, Mike!
I hope your book is a great success.
    Well deserved, buddy...

giraffmang: Good to hear from you, dude. Great news on the editing front. All the best, G. -
Michaelk: Thank you all. I'm getting my novel 'One on one' edited through createspace. I just sent it off yesterday.
Rama, that's the same one that you and I started to edit a while back. -

Michaelk: I'm going on hiatus for a while. Recent events in my life have shown me that I need to focus on the future. I'm going to work on getting my novel edited and hopefully published. I'll still drop in from time to time.
giraffmang: All the very best, Mike. -
    Michaelk: Thanks, Gareth. :) -
michaelcahill: Just don't be a stranger, Mike. I'm excited to hear you're going full force into the next step. You are without a doubt and author who can get published. Traditionally, I think. Please keep us posted. I'm so far behind in reviewing I can just catch up like you're still here. :))
Advice is still available always and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. mikey -
rama devi: Good luck! :) -
Gloria ....: Geez. I just met you and now you're leaving. Was it something I said? Ha. I know you'll get 'er done. -
Michaelk: Thank you all for the well wishes. I really appreciate it. I'll keep you posted. -

Ulla: Michael, couldn't understand where you'd disappered to. Good luck with the publishing and please don't forget us all together. Ulla:) -
    Razaz3l: /salute -

Michaelk: Attending my father's funeral in a few hours.

Michaelk: Thanks Linda, you have a great holiday too. -
Dean Kuch: My deepest condolences, Mike. I'm so sorry to learn of your family's loss, my friend.
    God bless...
    ~Dean -
Michaelk: Thanks so much, Dean. I appreciate it. -

Michaelk: Scenes from a marriage, vol 6, by Mark Valentine has been selected as a nominee for story of the month.
Be warned. If you read it, you will laugh your ass off! :)
    I am Cat: Yes! -
Linda Engel: WooHoo! it is so good. Funny! Funny! Funny! -

Michaelk: Royowen called me 'The Twister' in a recent review, so I thought I would pick a profile pic that reflected that. :)
michaelcahill: I'm guessing we should be thinking knife in the gut rotating and not Chubby Checker "Let's Do the Twist", yes? -
Michaelk: Knife in the gut sounds good to me, but I'm thinking that he was referring to the fact that most of my stories end with some type of twist. :) -

FanStory wrote to Michaelk: Congratulations! Daddy won the contest "Horror Story Writing Contest"

barkingdog: Yip! Yip! LIke I said--electic!
    Congratulations, Michael. :) e -
Michaelk: Thank you so very much, one and all. This story almost didn't happen. I spent nearly two months writing it, and in the end I wrote five different endings and chose the one I liked the best. -
    TAB_that's me: Congrats! -
    Razaz3l: Rock on man! -
Realist101: Congratulations Michael! Very good work! :D Susan -
Realist101: Congratulations Michael! Very good work! :D Susan -
Linda Engel: Oh Mike ! *jumping up and down* You won! You won! Doing my happy dance. It was a REALLY creepy story! Go Buddy!!!! -

Michaelk: If you want to laugh your guts out, just read 'Scenes from a marriage, vol 6' by Mark Valentine.
I'm still pushing my guts back in. :)
I am Cat: Oh Mark makes me laugh all the time... i"m heading there now. ;) -
Linda Engel: got it on my list. -
I am Cat: That was classic Mark...
    so awesome. LOL
    Thanks Michael! -

Michaelk: Show of hands. How many refreshed their browser at least a dozen times yesterday, hoping that this would be the time the site was back up and running?
evilynne: If I only knew what a browser is... -
--Turtle.: Is it back yet? How about now... no?
    How about now?
    Maybe now?
Oh, it changed a little bit...
    How about now? -
michaelcahill: HAHAHA!!! evilynne, that sooooo says what I'm thinking!!!!!!! -
Michaelk: At one point I checked it twice in less than a minute. -

Michaelk: Wow! Time warp. All of my writing is gone. I guess I get to rewind to January 2014 before I had posted anything.
I am Cat: check now, Michael, it should be back now... *crosses fingers* -

Michaelk: I should send my new profile pic to my dentist. :)
evilynne: That should be a real toothy challenge. -

Michaelk: Tis the season for a new profile pic. :)
Linda Engel: I'm waiting for a new post. cute pic. -
michaelcahill: Now there's the joyous smile we've been missing. YAY!! -
Gloria ....: Tis the season to be scary. :-) -
I am Cat: Michael... I hate to be the one to tell you ... but you're looking a bit gaunt, and... are you having some sinus issues? your nasal passages seem a bit... inflamed? just saying. ;) -
    Michaelk: Seasonal allergies. :) -

Michaelk: Loving my new profile pic.
Here's looking at you...yes, you. I'm watching you. Muhuhahaha. :)
I am Cat: Michael... You're looking a bit thin there hon... A bit gaunt
    even...dehydrated? 😱 -
Michaelk: This new diet is killing me. :) -
michaelcahill: Have you checked your pulse lately? I'm not seeing veins... -
BOO ghost: Lets go haunt some cob-webbed corridors. Maybe wee can get a job at the Halloween spook house. I can hang out in the guest room, you can take the cemetery out back when the tick or tr-eaters come. Boo... -
Michaelk: We could visit the basement of the Library of Congress, where they keep all the books on ethics and morality in politics. I hear nobody's been down there in centuries. Should be plenty of nice cobwebs. :) -
    Razaz3l: I dig it ,,/ -

Michaelk: Wow! I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like there are an awful lot of intimate (horny) writers on Fanstory right now. And that's not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination.
The posts I've been reading, it just seems like one after another is about sweet, sweet love. But one rises above them all. (unintended pun)
'Who was bettered?' by I Am Cat.
Fair warning, if you read it, have a glass of ice water ready to splash in your face.
I am Cat: LOL, Michael... Just a glass? ;)
Thank you Michael... I'm truly flattered that it has... 'touched' you
in all the right places. ;)
    -
    michaelcahill: Very nice.
My wife said, "What's got into you?"
I told her that's my line. Hahahaha!!!! My line, get it?
    Where's that ice truck..... -
I am Cat: LOL... the line is.... "let's get something straight between us" LOL

You might want to run down the ice cream truck. It's the next best thing! ;) -
michaelcahill: OMG, Michael!! She said, "cream"... -
    I am Cat: Michael!
*she says in her stern voice*
Don't make me pull out my Prince videos! 😜 -
michaelcahill: I won't have to sing Purple Rain again will I. I had to quit Karaoke over that.... -
Michaelk: Do I have to separate you two? -
I am Cat: 'Oh Seven and I'll watch them go...'

i'm sorry, Michael, did you say some thing? ;)

    "Sang it Mikey!" LOL -
XGoneX: I love writing erotic stuff, which can be a problem sometimes, considering that I write Romance-Fantasy Young Adult books. -

Michaelk: Must...log...off...Fanstory...and...do...work...
michaelcahill: Work is irrelevant. You too will be absorbed by Fanstory. Your uniqueness will add to the collective. -
    Michaelk: Yes, master... -
    Michaelk: Must...post...another...poem... -
    giraffmang: Resistance is... FUTILE -
I am Cat: All your base are belong to us.

(I have no idea what that means, but my son used to say it all the time.) ;) -

Michaelk: It always amazes me how quickly a good day can turn into a bad day.
evilynne: Much quicker than a bad day can turn into a good day. -
    Michaelk: Unfortunately, too true. -

Michaelk: Between vacation and my computer acting wonky, I've fallen woefully behind with reviews and replies. I'm trying to catch up now.
michaelcahill: Ignore everyone else and read mine. They said it was okay... -
    Michaelk: Yes, master... -
michaelcahill: Excellent. Dean was right ... eye of newt. -
--Turtle.: No wonder... and here I've just been piling voodoo dolls on stacks of paper. -
I am Cat: Wait.... Dean told me it was "hair of the Cat" I'm almost bald now trying to get reviews.... Dang it.....
"DEAN! You're in big trouble mister!" (pay no attention to the man behind the curtain) ;) -
Michaelk: Hmm...I wonder who left all these cute little dolls sitting around this yummy eyeball and hair soup. -

Michaelk: Former Fanstorian, Mike Battaglia has published his popular, 'Danforth State Mental Hospital' stories as a book on Amazon. Check it out at,

The Danforth State Mental Hospital
by Mike Battaglia
Link: http://amzn.com/1503000982
michaelcahill: For any of you newbies, this was one of the best stories ever offered here at Fanstory. Check it out!! -
evilynne: I will certainly check it out, have been one of Mike's fans and have missed reading his work. -

Michaelk: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." I get the concept, but if you really think about it...
So life should be brutally sliced in half, having its vital fluids and entrails spilled out, then ground up until there is nothing left but a useless husk that you discard. Then you should take the fluids and entrails and drink them?

I really hope life doesn't give me lemons. :)
rosehill (Wendy): A gory bit of citricide Michael. But sounds like a pithy start to a three-part horror novel series about a colony of trees decimated by Lime disease, ades, and pulpanary fibrosis issues. - Wendy -
evilynne: I happen to like lemons! -

Michaelk: Huge congrats to fellow 'Tiny Tales of Terror' author Ridley Williams. Both of us were nominated in the Book of the Month contest.
Hopefully that will make Dean feel a little better.

Michaelk: Happy Father's Day to all!

Michaelk: I learned a valuable lesson today. Sometimes my muse is just wrong. Sometimes a great story concept just falls flat and can't be revived no matter how much I work on it.
These are the times when it's best to throw that puppy into the 'future source material' file for possible recycling at a later date, and move on.
nor84: Try changing the main character to someone else, or a different POV. -
    harmony13: Thank you - Have a great night! -
JourneyHolm: Well spoken, Siri can only hope to be inspired some day by all the work Ive thrown away to the future. Keep at it old boy. -

Michaelk: It's been a long couple of months without Fanstory, but I'm finally working my way back.
Soon I'll be just as obnoxious as I ever was...huzzah!!
Seriously, it's great to be back home where I belong.
michaelcahill: Welcome back. We really missed ALICE! I mean you.... -
Michaelk: Nice! I know when I'm not wanted. (and Alice is)
You just want Alice for her great personality. ;) -
justafan: Welcome back! now get busy...lol..Pay no mind to Mikey :) -
    Razaz3l: woot woot -
Eigle Rull: Welcome back, my friend. -

Michaelk: Life events still have my writing and reviewing on the back burner. Hoping to return soon. Missing my Fanstory family.
michaelcahill: I'm in the same boat. I was wondering where you were. The world just doesn't understand. -
michaelcahill: I'm in the same boat. I was wondering where you were. The world just doesn't understand. -
    Michaelk: Amen to that.
    -
juliesibs: I hope all is okay, missing your writing -

Michaelk: Life intruding big time on my writing. Hopefully things will settle down soon.
michaelcahill: I know the feeling. What is wrong with the world. Doesn't it know we have stories to tell? -
Michaelk: Amen, brother. Slow the world down. -
Debra White: Ditto... I could do with the housework fairies paying me a visit!
    -
evilynne: Life is writing stories of its own. not all are fit to share here. Sooner or later there will be a time to write and share. -
    JPilcher: A-Men. -

Michaelk: So I said to my three year old daughter, "You need to stop whining."
She looks me in the eye and says, "I'm not whining, I'm crying."

michaelcahill: She's a little young for your Mr. Smiley stories, perhaps? -
esacony: Sounds like the makings of an attorney. LOL -

Michaelk: The funny thing about perspective is, you can't gain it without seeing some things you don't want to see.

Michaelk: Very stressed right now with all those irritating details of this thing we call life.
Imogen JH: Better than the stress of not being alive, let me tell you. -
Kingsland: Better than the stress of now being alive. Have you come back from the dead to tell your tale? -
Kingsland: That was supposed to be not being alive. I stink as a typist... -
    Michaelk: That's why I write such a mean zombie script, because I'm actually undead...shh, don't tell anyone. :) -
esacony: Happiness is what happens while you are making other plans. -

Michaelk: What's worse than writer's block?
Writer's block when you're in the middle of writing half a dozen different stories, a novel, and a script.
gypsycaravan: Uh-oh. How do you do that? That is amazing to be able to have so many different things going at once. I would have them all intermingled and in a mess. -
Michaelk: That's just the way I've always written. Write a few paragraphs about story A as it comes to me, then write a little about story B as it comes to me. I look at it like building a puzzle, I keep putting in pieces until the whole picture is visible.
Once in a while I will get hit with a major inspiration and be able to write out a whole story or chapter at once. Those are my favorites.
And once the dust settles, I'll edit. :) -
Linda Engel: Mike, Go into the light. Or at least back to the oldest pieces. Remember Alice? -
Michaelk: :) Alice will return, I swear. I just need to get a couple contests out of the way. -

Michaelk: "New blood joins this herd, and quickly he's subdued. Through constant pain, disgrace, the young boy learns their rules."
Does that sound like any site we all know and love?
We really need a better way of orienting newbies into the fold.
michaelcahill: I'd like to respond, but I fear reprisal....sir. -
    Michaelk: From me? -
    michaelcahill: I'm joking!!!! -
    Michaelk: -
Michaelk: Who let you out to get near a computer?
Back in your cage! (Whip cracks) -
michaelcahill: I saw a button that said "escape"... it was like a dream... -
Michaelk: Damn, I thought I had that button removed! -
Muffins: Thumbs up on your win! -

Michaelk: Here I go again. Every time I get in a writing groove, I 'take a break' to check Fanstory. Three hours later, I'm still on Fanstory without having written another word.
I hate to say it or even think it, but Fanstory is killing my writing!

How is that even possible?
michaelcahill: It could be worse. My writing is killing Fanstory!!!! -
    Michaelk: :) Nice, Mikey. -
Linda Engel: it can take you down that rabbit hole and snicker. You just get wrapped up in the lives of others. That is what's great about the site. so much to read and enjoy. -
    Michaelk: You're absolutely right. :) -

Michaelk: Have you ever noticed that you never get to 'There'? Every time you get to 'There' it becomes 'Here'.
michaelcahill: Thank God! I thought it was just me. But, it's you too. But if it's you then it can't be me. So, where am I? Am I there? No, you're there. Am I here? No, you're here too. WOW! You made me disappear.......... -
Michaelk: Every time I look at one of those maps that says 'You are here' I look around with paranoia in my heart and take one step to the left to see if the arrow moves. :) -
evilynne: Does anyone really know where they are? -
michaelcahill: Only the Kracken. Then they go and release the poor thing. No wonder it's pissed! -
    Michaelk: The shadow knows...muhuhahahaha!!!! -
michaelcahill: I knew it! It's stalking me. It follows me everywhere!!!! -

Michaelk: If you're happy and you know it...
michaelcahill: They wore masks. They put something in my drink. That's all I can remember. Clap your hands! -
    Michaelk: :) -
Linda Engel: my smile says it all!!!! -

Michaelk: 'Something old, something new', my post about the new changes to Fanstory. Tell me if you agree or if I am way off base.
    Linda Engel: agree. -

Michaelk: Thank you Fanstory for the new look. You have single-handedly done what I have been unable to do for the last eleven months, break my addiction to Fanstory.
I'm not sure when I'll post again, if ever.
granny goes viral: I have thought the exact same thing. Better then a 12 step program. -
Carole Rosa: I agree. I wrote 3 Thank You's for the reviews which I received and they didn't go through. Why should I waste my time. I hate this new format. It's not easy to read and it's confusing. I agree with Michaelk. This may break my addiction to FanStory. Carole -
nor84: For those who don't like the new look, Tom has posted a message on the Home Page that they can choose Classic Fanstory if they prefer. I'm not changing back. On a large monitor, the colors are better, and I have no problem navigating. Some bugs have to be squashed, but they will be. -
write hand blue: Yes on balance I have to agree with the majority.

I had a communication with Tom he is convinced that the new format is an improvement.

But for who? I haven't found out how to look up the new releases page yet.

Now I like the colour purple but not when we have a band crossing our screen and taking up to 20% of the area. The reason for it? Advertising Fanstory. Just in case we forget.

My motto is, if it ain't broken don't fix it. Mel

Michaelk: Novbember 18th, 8 degrees outside!
I @$^#&$ hate winter!!!
adewpearl: I was complaining about our 28, but I guess I should just be thanking my lucky stars. LOL -
Linda Engel: You could be at the North Pole. In ZGeorgia it will be 54 today, 25 tonight, and back in the 70's this weekend. You all can come visit me no snow. Mike this doesn't mean you can stop writing. (No wonder my muse came home where it is warm) -
Twilightspire: Lol. I love winter, but sometimes it gets a bit ridiculous. Chi-town is freezing over. -
shelley kaye: winter begins on dec 21. we are currently in autumn.
    -
Kingsland: Tell that to the eight inches of snow that I shoveled this morning... -
    Michaelk: adewpearl: I'll trade you.
Linda Engel: Yes, mistress, I will return to the salt mines.
Twilightspire: You can have my share of Winter.
shelley kaye: I knew someone would bring that up, thank you for not disappointing me. :)
Kingsland: I hear you, we're supposed to get 2 to 5 inches today. -
rosehill (Wendy): Cold enough for me to plead my case for sitting inside and reading and writing poetry. No guilt about avoiding porch painting day for me. -
    shelley kaye: you're welcome ;-)

Michaelk: What one question immediately makes your IQ drop 50 points?

"Dad, can you help me with my homework?"
michaelcahill: Keeping in mind that I'll sleep with you only if your IQ is lower than my 110, what's your IQ? -
Michaelk: What did you tell her, Mikey? -
michaelcahill: I told her my IQ was was 40... -
    Michaelk: (Rim shot) -

Michaelk: If a picture is worth a thousand words and a movie shows around forty pictures every second, how many words is a movie worth?
Imogen JH: 314,400,000 in the case of my favourite movie 'Terms of Endearment' -
Linda Engel: I loved that movie. one of my favs, too. -
Linda Engel: Aren't you supposed to be writing?
OK you can take a break and a cup of coffee. -
shelley kaye: depends on how good with picture is....
    -
Michaelk: The 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy would break the calculator. -
Michaelk: I'm sorry Linda, I will return to the salt mine right away. :) -

Michaelk: I just had a thought...
...
Oops, I lost it, never mind. :)
Linda Engel: :) you just made my day. I thought I was the only one with mind slips. -
shelley kaye: i've had those kind of thoughts before....

    -

Michaelk: I was listening to some music on the way to work that I hadn't listened to in many years. One thought kept recurring in my mind, 'Wow! They sound like they were so high when they wrote this.'
William Walz: Not only were the musicians high, everybody listening to the radio was high as well. -

Michaelk: Just saw a fantastic picture on Fanartreview that would be great for a romance story or a horror.
'El Amor Duele' by Jairos.
Check it out.
Linda Engel: I saw one for you called "Macabre" by Faybells. looks like zombie parts. -
Michaelk: I checked that out, you're right, thanks for the tip. -

Michaelk: MARCO...!
    shelley kaye: hated that game....

    -
William Walz: What about Groucho and Zeppo? -
    Michaelk: :) -
    granny goes viral: Polo -

Michaelk: If you stood on the international date line, with one foot on one side and one foot on the other, then set your watch to be one minute fast, would you be living in the past, present, and future all at once?
michaelcahill: You'd become a disproved axiom and an interesting theory, but you'd no longer exist. -
Michaelk: (Mike fades into nothingness) NOOOoooooo!!!!.... -

Michaelk: I just had a frightening thought...What if the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about?!?
michaelcahill: Most of the original lyrics were burned during the Crusades. We are left with words that refer to activities concerned with the hokey aspects of the pagan activities. It is speculated that the pokey aspects are quite a bit more interesting and more than likely are what it is all about. The right wing Crusaders didn't like that... -
Michaelk: Your comments make me think about the lyrics in a whole new way. 'You put your right foot in...'
    Disturbing. :) -
innerworlds: Well, if that's what the Hokey-Pokey is all about.... what is the Chicken Dance all about? Or the Peppermint Twist? Or the YMCA? There's got to be more to life than the YMCA! I'll take the Macarena, thank you very much! (0:] -
    Michaelk: Mmm...Macarena and cheese...Chicken dance...Peppermint Twist...I'm hungry. -
Twilightspire: Heh heh. Could be... -
innerworlds: Served at your local YMCA cafeteria! (It's always bothered me that cafeteria rhymes with bacteria. Hmmm...) -
Muffins: Way to go on wining second place in the This sentence starts the story contest. As you know, I enjoyed reading and so did many others on this site. Keep up the good work! -
Michaelk: Thank you so much Muffins. With Captain Jack getting first and humpwhistle getting third, I feel like this is a real accomplishment being in the company of such great writers. -

Michaelk: I am going to focus on doing one thing today.
    michaelcahill: Wow. Done already! -
Michaelk: I got it done. Finished and posted my contest entry for 'School's out'. :) -
innerworlds: I'm going to focus on just one thing today, too. Living! (0:} -

Michaelk: To everyone who read 'The Journey' I want to first say thank you. Second, I have posted the first of two or three scripts that are written as outtakes and/or bloopers to that story. I think you will enjoy it.
Linda Engel: It was a hoot. Still laughing mao. -
Twilightspire: Absolutely hilarious, my friend. Keep 'em coming. -
    Michaelk: Act 2 is posted. :) -
Julie000: Hello , How are you doing today? I picked interest on you after going through your short profile now. My name is Juliana, I really want to have a good friendship with you.
I have something very important I really want to discuss with you okay.
Please my dear, I want you to write me back through this my email address okay: juliana4love_direk@hotmail.com -

Michaelk: I've reached the end of my journey (the collection of short stories) I want to thank everyone who read and enjoyed this series of stories.
rama devi: New journeys will lie ahead....Keep writing! -
Twilightspire: Yes, please keep writing. This was such a great set of stories and I can't wait to read the finale. You have a huge talent and I would love to see more of your work. -
Michaelk: Sorry, I guess that did sound a little depressed. I only meant that I was sad to end this series because I've really enjoyed writing it. Thank you both for your encouragement though. Greatly appreciated. -
michaelcahill: Yeah, it did sound like you were pulling the coffin lid down. Hahaha. Do like I do, go on and on with no end in sight! -
Michaelk: Aren't you already part cyborg?
    The Mikey 9000! :) -

Michaelk: There's just something about that feeling. You know the one. When you've got your theme and your characters, you're writing as fast as you can and the story is unfolding in front of your eyes. You're not even sure where it's coming from and events that come from your own mind surprise you as you type them out.
Yep, that's the zone.
Twilightspire: It sure is. I've been there for the past week. I've written over 14,000 words the last six days. :D -
Michaelk: Way to go, T.J., good for you! Keep at it, you'll have a novel done in no time. :) -
    Twilightspire: Here's hoping. :D -

Michaelk: Break out of your rut idea #2
Reverse your morning routine. Whatever you normally do first, do last, and vice versa.
Linda Engel: What? Feed the cat last? Have you ever had an 18 pound cat in your face first thing in the morning? -
Linda Engel: What was the 1st idea? -
William Walz: I really don't think I can wait until noon to take a whiz. -
Michaelk: Linda, Lol and the first idea was to skip on a treadmill instead of walk or run.
    William, Rotflmao! -

Michaelk: Break out of your rut idea #1:
Skip on the treadmill instead of walking or running.
    michaelcahill: What's a treadmill? -
William Walz: I've heard of a threadmill, where they manufacture thread. -
The Death: Is it supoosed to be trade-mill? ;) -
Linda Engel: That word is not in my dictionary -

Michaelk: When life gives you lemons...write a poem about it. :)
shelley kaye: ....cut them in half and squeeze them in the eyes of someone you hate

    ;-)

    -
Michaelk: Wow! Anger issues...I like it! -
    Linda Engel: still laughing...:) -
michaelcahill: And then write a poem with their tears.... -
shelley kaye: i've always liked guys named michael....

    -
    Michaelk: Aww...shucks. :) -

Michaelk: I don't understand contests and writing prompts that say, 'Let's have fun with this' and then charge five bucks to enter.
I would have entered many more contests but I didn't have time to review enough to cover the entry fee plus have time to actually write the story.
That's why the last two contests I created have a two dollar entry fee. I want people to have fun and not go broke in the process.
prefabmouse: I get what your saying. I have not been on here for very long and may not fully understand how things work yet to make this statement but it seems unfair that you have to buy a certificate when you put something new on here to get it listed so you can get reviews on it. The more you pay the higher you get in the review process. It seems to me that it should run for a few days to a week then if you want to keep it on the review then buy the certificate. What are your thoughts on the subject? -
Linda Engel: Amen, sister! at least a day because not all of your fans are on every day...They are out promoting their book or busy writing. Hey , how about if you vote for the winner you get a money prize. No different than betting on the greyhounds. -

Michaelk: I would like to apologize to all those who were contemplating entering my contest 'The Sequel'. Unfortunately I made a mistake and set it to 'blind' entries. Being that this is a contest for sequels, reading the original work is desirable, but nearly impossible to find with blind entries. However this contest cannot be changed at this point. I may do another sequel contest in a few months, with the correct parameters this time. Thanks for understanding and good luck to all those who do enter.
michaelcahill: Maybe we should copy the original at the beginning... -

Michaelk: Created my first contest. 'The Sequel', check it out.
michaelcahill: That's a good one. It occurred to me when I woke up this morning just which piece needs a sequel. I'm counting my money! Hahaha. -

Michaelk: Very happy and honored to split the 'Sunday, Monday, Doomsday' contest win with rod007.
michaelcahill: Well earned. Good stuff!! -

Michaelk: ( Mike collapses in a heap as he clicks the mouse button and posts the epilogue of his first novel. In a raspy voice he whispers) "It is done." :)
michaelcahill: That means you can say, "I'm a novelist." Isn't that a strange feeling? Great job. Congrats. -
Torrence Winter: I've been able to say that since I was 12.
    -
Linda Engel: I am so proud of you. and it was a terrific story. -
Michaelk: Michael, Thank you very much, yes it is a strange felling.
Torrence, That's fantastic. I wish i would've started when I was younger, but I didn't start writing until I was nearly forty.
Linda, Thank you so very much. I couldn't have done it without a lot of support and input. -

Michaelk: Boo yah!! I got my first review star!

Michaelk: My apologies, apparently I published chapter 28 of 'One on one' out of order.

Michaelk: Really feeling in a groove with 'One on one'. Getting some great input. Thank you all!

Michaelk: I've been absent a little bit lately. Trying to fix this novel, plus other things, has kept me from being as active as I want. I will try to post chapters to 'One on one' in a more timely manner.
michaelcahill: Looking for that! Also, miss your imput. Resist the real world, there is nothing good there. All good things are here. -
Michaelk: Lol! If only, Mikey...if only. -
knowledge: I have bought two of your short story books.

Just thought I'd let your know.

    Your writing buddy, Knowledge -
Michaelk: Thank you very much, I hope you enjoy them. -
Linda Engel: keep up the good work...you are awesome -
Michaelk: Thank you very much. -

Michaelk: Wow! I am very happy to have my first 'recognized' work. Thank you to all those who reviewed 'Rex'.
    Chuck23: Congrats! I enjoy reading you! -
Sylvia Page: Welcome to Fanstoria Michael. Hope you have an enjoyable stay. -

Michaelk: Thanks to some well meaning criticism, 'Man child' has been overhauled a bit. I think it is an easier read now. Thank you very much to those who cared enough to point out some weak spots in this story. Please continue to do so.

Michaelk: I finally got around to getting a subscription! Woo Hoo! Now I can annoy the crap out of everyone by posting my useless, underdeveloped, stories. (Just kidding)
Please remember to be brutal when reviewing.

Michaelk: I am so glad I 'discovered' this site. Getting to read all these stories and poems is a real treat. I love the rating system, and hope to soon post some of my own work.
If I review your work, and say something that upsets you, please let me know. That is not my intention. I just want to honestly help make a work the best it can be. I expect no less from reviews that I receive on my work. That's one way we grow as authors.
