patwannabe is a 80 year old widow (after 57 years of marriage) who hates the snow, but lives in it anyway. She has 21 grandchildren, 16 greats, and tutors math and reading during the mornings. The rest of the day and the evening is HERS. She reads, writes, rakes leaves, shovels snow, plays computer games, knits, crochets and quilts. Her writing has been off and on, stop and go forever. Years ago she received $15 for a poem sent to Saturday Evening Post's "Post Scripts", and years ago, she got $50 for a story sent to Ladies Home Journal. That was back when money was worth money. She loves writing children's books but has the normal rejection phobia in which she says to herself, Gotta stop throwing money away on postage. Then she thinks of John Grisham who received 16 rejections for "The Testament" and the rest is history. Dr. Suess' first book wracked up 27 rejections before he found the right publisher. She's sure Harry Potter's "mother" didn't expect to hit the bigtime, either. She's glad she joined and is encouraged by the wonderful reviews she's received for her posts.
