Az, Buki, and Vedi are the first three letters of the old (pre-Revolution) Russian alphabet. Thus, azbukivedi can be loosely translated as ABC.

Sara was born and raised in Russia. She has published a few short stories and essays in various Russian magazines and newspapers and had two regular columns in a Russian-American NY magazine called METRO. One was a ditsy weekly "relationship" column; the other--a serious, two-page "analysis" article that ran every two weeks. She wrote them under different pen names and nobody had a clue the same woman penned such different texts. Unfortunately, the magazine changed its editor-in-chief and quickly "jumped the shark". Sara is no longer working with them. But you can see her "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" sides on this site--Sara can write very serious articles and very silly ones, with topics ranging from economics to sex to politics to face creams. She can be very nice or very mean, depending on the topic and the time of the month. Beware.

Sara has a book of short stories and essays came out in Moscow at the end of July 09, published by the Russia's biggest publishing house. The best news is, she got paid for it. If you can read Russian, the book is here:

She is now slowly making inroads in the English-language market. Her short story "Confiscation of Property" made it to the July's issue of "Cadillac Cicatrix", and "French Cream" was in the September issue of "Boulevard". She hopes it's just the beginning.
