I am a 53 year old who has always written in some shape or form since childhood. I work as a children's safeguarding nurse and this year have had a substantial period off work due to stress. As a way of coping with some very difficult issues that I found unable to talk about, I began to write poetry. I literally felt as though something had been released in me, and it has brought me so much comfort, pleasure and at times given me a reason to be. I've had some amazing support from my friends and family, but don't think they feel comfortable to be critical and I want to improve. I have not long finished writing a children's novel based on my own experience in social work and nursing, and am searching for ways to get it published as I genuinely think it could make a difference in young people's lives.
