She was beautifully out of place. Sometimes I believe she intended to be. Like the moon in the sky during the day.

Hi I'm Jeni. I go by JLM (jeni/luna/Moonchild) as my real name is jeni, my muse is Luna and Moonchild is what all of my good friends call me. I've been absent from this site for about seven years. My 23-year old son, Mickey, died from a heroin overdose on January 8, 2015. (When I was last active on this site, Mickey was about sixteen years old).

As you can imagine, the shock to our family from the sudden death of our son/grandson/brother/nephew/friend was tremendous and traumatic. We knew Mickey was an addict and he had tried to get clean time and time again. He loved the programs of Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous, he even stayed clean for an entire year once. His passion was helping other addicts get clean. He helped many, many people and had many friends. He just couldn't stay away from heroin himself. He likened her to a lover that always would pull him back, no matter how long he had been gone. At his memorial service over 200 of his friends attended, each making sure to tell us how much Mickey had been loved and respected for his ability to work with other addicts.

It's been two years now but it still seems like yesterday.

This page will be dedicated to my son, John Martin McKernan IV (Mickey) and every poem written will be in his memory. A candle will burn continuously here in my profile for my son's memory. I want people to know that he lived.

Since that time, the Moonchild has had severe writer's block. My muse, Luna (the name under which I write) has just recently been sneaking back into my life.

I just want to use the gift of creativity that the Universe has given me. I'd like to perhaps give someone's day a lift, and in that way giving a gift back to the Creator.

Thanks for visiting! I'm finding the site as crammed with awesome folk as it was when I left. I hope to get to know many more of you...
