Eugene Harvey – Poet & Writer

I am writing to introduce myself as a poet and writer with a deep appreciation for the power of words. Since having composed over 3,500 poems and more than 250 short stories. My poetic journey began unexpectedly in 1989, revealing a natural talent for capturing the depth and rhythm of language. My work explores a diverse range of themes, including love, romance, faith, relationships, humor, nature, the human experience, and the intricacies of modern life.

With a self-taught mastery of various poetic forms, my repertoire includes traditional and contemporary styles such as sonnets, quatrains, rondeaus, rondelets, kyrielles, octelles, and iambic pentameter. He also crafts poetry in structured forms like acrostic, rictameter, pleiades, nonet, and minute verse.

My skill and appreciation for Japanese poetry is reflected in my ability to craft tanka, haiku, senryu, sedoka, and naani compositions.

Born and raised in Bermuda, I carry the essence of the island’s beauty and culture into my work, infusing each with vivid imagery and introspective narratives. Thirty years ago, I emigrated to the United States, and currently reside in Charlotte, NC, where I continue to write and reflect on life’s ever-evolving journey.

The beauty of Bermuda and the richness of his cultural heritage deeply influence his writing, and my poetry often draws from my life experiences, offering reflections on faith, personal growth, and the ever-changing nature of existence.

My approach to poetry is deeply intuitive—I write as inspiration strikes, never knowing what my next poem will unveil, allowing each piece to unfold organically, revealing profound truths about existence. My writing seeks to illuminate life's deeper meanings, inviting readers to explore the world through a contemplative and thought-provoking lens.

In 2006, my first published poem, Life’s Journey, was honored at a poetry convention in Las Vegas, earning me a prestigious 18" crystal award and a commemorative plaque. Encouraged by this recognition, I have since dedicated myself to refining my craft and sharing my work with a broader audience.

Currently, I am reviewing, editing, and curating my body of work into several poetry collections, along with an anthology featuring poems written in Bermy dialect, celebrating the vibrant linguistic spirit and cultural vibrancy of my island heritage. I hope that my poetry will inspire, entertain, and spark reflection, offering readers a journey through the power of words.

Enjoy
