My nom de plume is Ogden, in honor of the late Ogden Nash, a highly respected humorist, poet and lyricist, who, besides my dad, was the source of my earliest inspiration to write.

To everyone outside of FanStory, I'm Don.
Retired from a long and unusually varied career, I live in Manhattan, NYC.

I joined FS in the Fall of 2015. In my haste to begin writing, I overlooked posting any personal information. Coincidentally, out of the blue, the following June, I was recruited to perform in a one-act play about Alzheimer's Disease (I don't have it, thank God) - and I was asked to send a brief bio for a Playbill.

Here, in a nutshell, slightly edited, is the post-high school, pre-FS blurb I submitted: "Tired of being carded, (a joke, alluding to my mature appearance, inescapably obvious to the audience) Don grew a full beard a couple of months ago, and now he's been type-cast as an old man! For more than 40 years after graduating from Boston U, he performed, wrote and directed, in various capacities, in broadcasting and advertising, including announcer; radio News Director; early rock 'n' roll DJ (his favorite gig a nightly all-night one-man radio show in which, ironically, he doubled, interacting with his non-existing elderly sidekick); and Droopy Dog, the hand-puppet host of a TV children's show. In the ad biz phase of his career, he wrote and directed hundreds of commercials, was cast for TV voice-overs, and announced and acted in a number of his own radio commercials."

Fortunately, my stage performances went well. It was good to know I can still do it.

And now, here I am at home, writing what are intended to be entertaining poems and stories, along with some timely observations, all made possible by FS. (Where else can you say whatever is on your mind without getting into trouble?)
