I was sitting on the screen porch reading when Jimmy dropped by.
It was serious Jimmy -- sometimes it's hard to tell serious Jimmy from sarcastic Jimmy. (That skill has cost him a lot of friends over the years.) But this for sure was serious Jimmy -- I think his eyes are bluer when he's serious, and today his eyes are sapphire. I'm sure of it. I mean I never actually saw them.
That would be crazy.

    SueZen: I think its important to become aware of how our egos are 'formed' through conditioning & what enormous consequences that has on all levels of existence, everyones's journey through this, former & future lives (incarnations).
    A book I read about 20 years ago & think should be on school's curriculum is: "Narcism" by Alexander Lowen.
    One that is being read increasingly by many today & I personally find of great value is: A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle (as also his talks, discussions on Youtube.
    Shall take a look at what Brian has to share, just noticed this & that...captured my interest ! Enjoy this new day, Salut Sue

    SueZen: As for changing society, Preston, that is not possible, as also impossible to change another person's conduct, behaviour, mindsets, attitudes and so forth...in my view & experience the only way we can contribute positively, constructively to the WHOLE is through awareness, personal/spiritual transformation, growth, action, mindfulness, example, etc. in our daily lives with understanding, compassion, love, service & insight...Quote Mandela: "We must BE the CHANGE we want to see in the world". Any form of fighting whatever will only create more friction, disharmony in ourselves as also overall, as only ADDS to negative personal karma as also collective worlwide...all is ENERGY...every cell/nutron in whatever living organism, so in Gaia too, reacts to positive as also negative energy: positive attracts positive, negative negative, a law of Nature,

    Take care of mindfulness that it does not dismisses the subconscious. -

    I mean mindfulness in the sense of 'alert', awake to ALL; the body, the workings of the mind, the subconscious, feelings/emotions, the movements/motion & sounds of the physical world around us, etc. without THINKING about, going into discussion about, simply observing neutrally...and consequently, if/when necessary, taking action intelligently...
    Pure intelligence has nothing to do with knowledge accumulated from books, study, etc. The NATURAL WORLD is HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, aware, alive/awake ! -
    gene roush: It's my view, that mindfulness -- as you define it -- moves a spirit beyond acquired characteristics such as karma and wisdom to the One of which we are each an expression.
    This is a position beyond the physical limits of ego and time.
    A place that my brother expressed with his dying breath as, "so much love". -
    Antonin70: I always think Pascale got it right when he said there were only two possible explanations of our existence. One is that natural evolution and this life is all there is. The other is that God created us to love each other and so earn a place in heaven for eternity. Given this choice, when deciding how to live, only a raving madman would choose not to try to do what God wanted. Well the 1653 edition of the Pensees in French doesn't translate quite so simplistically but that is the undeniable truth behind the argument. -

    SueZen: I think we should think less (haha) & discover, NOT BY THINKING, but by 'recognizing' who we essentially ARE, i.e. our authentic Nature, which has nothing to do with our intellectual capacities, study of whatever, education, etc., no, simply with 'insight'...that cannot be learned from books, what is per definition 'second-hand' knowledge ! Insight is 'God'-given & ours to receive & employ...on many levels ! Another 'word' for can be 'Universal Intelligence', straight from the prime source of all... -

    Thought is merely training for the acceptance of insight
    without thought, insight could never advances past the necessities of life. -
