A prayer to the Father

To The Unknown God

by BermyBye50

Dear GOD,

I know that you are real.
But there are times when
I do not believe,

When with tearful eyes my
fervent prayers
thee readily receive.

My faith ebbs and wanes
like the tides
till doubt indeed reigns,

This heart and mind tho'
still tempted by sin
do faithfully remain.

Although long-suffering
in your image my
soul was wholly made,

Till at death its fruits
thereof shall end
this foolish charade.

For this flesh in truth
before thee e'er lies
ne'er to let go,

If only real change
shall take root it
will rightly show.

My spirit does through
every trial and test
weather till the end,

Till my change come
in the blink of an eye
my spirit if not free,

This soul brought forth
by life-giving breath
created by your hand,

This man through receipt
of the gift of faith
your true face will see,

For by your will shall
we join together forever
as one we shall be.
