Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Free Verse

The Blue Gown

Her blue gown
sparkled as she spun around the room,
exuberant at the thought of her first prom.
It matched her eyes
which her daddy said were
bonny blue.
Her chestnut hair
tied back with ribbon to match
made her feel like a princess,
like Cinderella at the ball.
The sequins on the skirt
glittered
and she giggled,
thinking how like the twinkly stars
she would be dancing beneath tonight.
What color corsage would her escort bring,
and would the moment be stressful
when he pinned it on her dress?
No matter.
This would be a magical night,
filled with moments
to remember for years to come.
She hummed happily,
skipping down the stairs.
