A Monometric poem for Potlatch Poetry

A Day of Exploring

by damommy

I took my bag, went out the door,
all packed and ready to explore.

The first I saw were budding trees,
and blossoms waiting for the bees,
a cat the squirrels teased with ease.

Across a woodland path, the quail
ran by with mother at their tail.
They disappeared on down the trail
to reach their nest in hidden dale.

Was all in all, a wondrous day.
I have not words which can portray
the beauty seen along the way.
But now, I can no longer stay
to watch the forest’s still display.
