A glance at the pain when loves gone

Shadow Of What Was

Shadow of What Was
By Melissa Murphy

She was a seductress
On the outside

Platinum blonde hair, azure blue eyes that pulled you in

Not a curve out of place

She never saw herself beautiful or felt her worth

She lives alone now ...in the shadow of her beauty

Hair unkempt, eyes red, swollen ...filled with sorrow

He'd grown tired of fighting his jealousy and walked away

Never a thought of the pain he was leaving behind

Heartache that stole the joy,
The spirit that was her essence

If you listen closely you can hear
Her pain as she whispers
