A meditation on human nature

Human Nature

by BermyBye50

Self-annihilation is all but secured
Sin patiently awaits its sure reward,
With every timeless inner thought
Suffering's angst is ever wrought,
Grief-stricken of hope life remains
A lifetime burden that ne'er wanes.

Without end is temptation's quest
Whereof lawless souls often wrest,
Timeless error of the heart's desire
Enticing flames of unquenched fire,
O'er a bedeviled lifetime conceived
E'er weary begetting death received.

Yet within the sanctum of the mind
Deep thoughts always strive to find,
Maculated sands of time ever shifting
Preempt signs of faith truly uplifting,
As endless resolutions fail to change
Pertinacious choices still estranged.

Tho' reverent questions still reside
Meditation's answers jollify inside,
In a battle royal for the human soul
Human nature has abdicated its role,
As caretaker o'er the spirit in man
Allowing wretchedness to expand.

Its sinful flesh's territorial domain
In a ragging war it cannot sustain,
Against the mind's falling control
To eschew wickedness as a whole,
Willfully pursuing all that is good
Over all the earth, as only it could.

All men became its zombie slaves
Extinct heirs reposed in earthly graves,
Death's gift renown is justly ensured
In hell fire's flames all sin is cured,
Humanity is free of sin's perfect hand
Promised by the Father's right-hand.
