Humanity is lost in the darkness searching for the light

''Lost in the Darkness''

by BermyBye50

through a minefield of thoughts
the mind wanders alone forever.

through the shadow of darkness
it searches along pathways new.

through quiet timeless loneliness
it stumbles aimless without hope.

through the empty void of time
it fights onward free of knowing.

through tearful cries of solemnity
it travels dark passages unknown.

through the mystery of a lifetime
it finds answers to false questions.

through its quest for knowledge
it searches endlessly for wisdom.

through forgotten remembrances
it stands hindered by ignorance.

through stubborn disobedience
its heart refuses to embrace life.

through the space between breaths
it may discover salvation's light.

through acceptance of the truth
it may someday escape all lies.

through voluntary silent prayer
it may finally triumph over death.

Eugene Harvey

A poem is inspired by the following verses:

1John 1:5

And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.

John 1:1-3, 14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.

John 1:7-8

He came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but sent from God to bear witness of that Light.

John 1:10-9, 4-5

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world did not know him. He was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehended.
