Ode to Cookie

ODE TO COOKIE

He took off late and made the drop
Set up his bottom turn
This was more than two foot slop
He was quick to learn

Looked down the line toward the boil
As the wave began to pitch
His head was masked in sunscreen oil
But there was a little glitch

Banana boat got in his eyes
As the lip formed a perfect tube
Could just make out those clear, blue skies
As his eyes got full of lube

Bravely he stood and held his line
Although he now couldn't see
Thirty foot back in a liquid mine
Just where he loves to be

One hand in the wall to hold a stall
No other had been deeper
A smoke in his mouth not wet at all
Macca's photo was a keeper

But now there's something very scary
He's about to pursue
To say his vows before he gets merry
And hold his bride so new

So come Saturday, down at Darook
Among friends who love these guys
We all came down to have a look
To see if Cookie cries

When on her finger he plants the ring
After one last puff on a 'durrie
Terry's didgeridoo will see us sing
For no one's in a hurry

Back to the club for a celebration
Maybe a drink or two
Thank you all for your participation

A good mate of mine from the surfing fraternity, Matty Cook goes down the aisle tomorrow with his beautiful beau, Bec Doyle.
Matty is fearless in the ocean and takes on the biggest waves and the first verses of this poem reflects this... but tomorrow he stands in front of the love of his life and says I do. He is the most nervous I have ever seen him lol
The setting for the ceremony is a park overlooking the ocean. My two posts today reflected this wonderful couple.
