Do you see the real me?

Who Do You See?

by Roxanna Andrews

I feel eyes watching me.
I wonder, what is it they see?

Do they see the real me?
Or only the me I want them to see?

The girl who is all put together,
The one whose shoes always match her sweater?

The one with make up and hair in the current style,
Looking so pristine, with a ready smile.

Or do they see the me I want to hide from view?
The one whose life is slightly askew?

The one with all the craft supplies on her floor,
At times making it difficult to get in the door.

Do they see the glitter and paper trail I leave?
The glue that's always smeared on my sleeve?

Organizings a bust! No matter how many boxes I buy,
I can't keep things neat, though I try and I try!

Sadly, I have given up. With neatness I'm not endowed.
I'm like Charlie Brown's  Pig Pen with that dusty cloud.

Every room in my homes bares witness I've come through,
As tiny bits of crafting drop off me like morning dew.

So should your eyes be following me,
At least the glitter makes me all sparkly.
(I'm so pretty!)

We don't always want people to see the real 'us', but sometimes it shows through, or in my case shows all over me. I'm not kidding when I say every room in my house has some of my crafting bits. Glitter, jewels, tiny bits of paper, string. It's really quite amazing. (Stepping on a jewel is really annoying because the darn things will not come off.)

My sister would always say, "I can't believe you come out looking so put together when your room looks like we should tie a rope around you in case you get lost." It was a little messy. Now I have a craft room to get lost in.

And even more amazing, I seem to be able to leave my craft cloud behind when I go out.
