Nightmares

by DALLAS01

Sleep's palsied psychosis
grips the door knob-
opening the night
to black corridors leading
nowhere-
scattered everywhere.

Shades of pitch-
drape the windows,
as receding
shadows shed twilight's glow.

A wave of midnight silence
cloaked in whispers;
scribbles its eulogy on tombstones-
a voiceless staccato
drumming deaths rhythm.

Nightmares
cling like static chiffon;
trolling the pre-dawn hours
hoping to arrest
the break of day.
