A chapter in the book A Book of Songs
The Barbers Refrain (Part 3)
Did you know it started with bandages and blood?
Many a face and hair out of place,
One thing came to his mind, where did the hair all go;
Such skilled hands, God bless the human race!
Today’s beginning was special for men only;
Ruminative teen did make in haste!
Gentlemen what are you for? You know what we do,
The red and white is our coat of arms!
Here, listen good, it pays to be well understood,
When a man always a helping hand!
“Take a seat sir, this one is for you!” The day starts.
“Many years have I sat in that chair!”
“What would you like sir, now that you’re here?” “Steady on,
Two left snip them and I’ve no more hair!”
“How about a buff, simple stuff, maybe polish!”
“Steady, I came to thank for your care!”
Gentlemen what are you for? You know what we do,
The red and white is our coat of arms!
Here, listen good, it pays to be well understood,
When a man always a helping hand!
Through the reflection a faded past, one last smile.
“The day is gone and so is my rent;
Today I leave this world and with a cherished thought,
The money I earn is all well spent.
Little I have but you made glad through years of life;
To muse I must on my soul that’s lent!”
The barber was pleased and his heart was filled with joy;
Old friend laid his scissor and comb down.
“Good man, before you go, I ask one last request,
In love leave me a tip of a pound!”

The final installment in this little journey.
The reference to the name of the Barber shop, "Men only" is a very real Barber shop where I get my hair cuts. I gifted them this poem for display...and their all women.
