A chapter in the book A Book of Songs

The Barbers Refrain (Part 2)

by Bicpen

Did you know it started with bandages and blood?
Well that we told, great changes in time,
Improvement has been made, the brave few still stand tall;
The skill the same, our fame settled fine!
Sharp instruments, titanium steel honed perfect;
Busy appointments keep from the wine!

Gentlemen what are you for?  You know what we do,
The red and white is our coat of arms!
Days grow long and time goes on; man in strength does fade,
Generations belong to our land!

“Take a seat sir, this one is for you!”  The day starts.
“Remember me; was here just last week!”
“What would you like, plaited or just curled?” “Steady on,
Modern man knows best, I’d like a treat!”
“How about a college boy, maybe a ferret!”
“Steady, anymore and I`m out the seat!”

Gentlemen what are you for?  You know what we do,
The red and white is our coat of arms!
Days grow long and time goes on; man in strength does fade,
Generations belong to our land!

In comes the aged hippy his hair grown thick and strong.
“I think I’ll part it, now don’t be mean,
I’ll have it bright green since my mother brought me in!”
“Awful matted?” “Nice trim!”  Loudly screamed.
Now grown tall he is the slick man about the town;
Because he was ruminative teen.

Gentlemen what are you for?  You know what we do,
The red and white is our coat of arms!
Days grow long and time goes on; man in strength does fade,
Generations belong to our land!
