Barne Wallis was their creator of mind
Its most famous sorties were Operation Chastise
a splendid job bringing Squadron 617 alive
all thanks to Rolls Royce and the proven choice
Avro delivered anti-submarine photo reconnaissance
aerial mapping and aerial refuelling at a snapshot
In 1941 L7257’s test pilot H.A. “Sam” Brown
brought four merlin engines singing around
 
It was Type 683 Manchester III
