A poem about a sunset during a trying time

So Too Will This Pass

by Jenifer Bellott

Atop this snowy mountain
The city seems so small
So too do my worries
I exhale, and they dissolve

The fleeting cloud of breath
Reflects the autumn sun's finale
So too do the buildings
Far beneath me in the valley

Dazzling pink and gold
Alight the fading azure sky
They tint the snow and river
And glow in my lover's eyes

I watch as he beholds
The glittering frosted peaks and bank
His smile affirms a peaceful soul
I offer silent thanks

The Artist's feathered brushstrokes
Scarlet and amber now
Paint His shining promise on
the drooping evergreen boughs

The brilliant, rosy Sun
Casts our shadows long and far
And unveils upon Its setting
The premiere of winter stars

They twinkle with the rising moon
So too do Christmas lights
My lover's hand caresses mine
As daylight fades to night

This solstice sunset births a season
But winter will not last
And as the spring will melt the snow
So too will this pass

And so too will this pass

Sunset contest entry

My husband and I recently received some scary and stressful news. I tried to capture how the glory of the sunset gave us peace.
