I am a retired veteran who finally has the liberty to write when I please. I've been journaling since I was seven and penning poetry and short stories since I was about 13. Recently, I decided to attempt my first novel, and I'm having fun with it and learning a lot. I'm excited to earn my English degree next year, which I hope will land me an editing career. I would prefer to be a developmental or copyeditor because I gain joy from helping others succeed.

I joined FanStory to help me get my name out "there" and receive feedback to improve my writing. I have fallen in love with this community! Everyone is encouraging, helpful, and professional. I'm glad to be a part of it.

Because I am a positive spirit, I'm mainly motivated to write poetry during happy times. Sadness has inspired some of my poems, though. That's just the way it is sometimes, isn't it? I have a muse. I don't know what or who it is, but pieces of stories, verses, and even entire poems will come to me in sleep or appear in my head as clearly as if they were personal memories. I like to think it's my grandmother, Nona, who was a writer, too.
