(sometimes) and because this is liable to happen I am extra-careful, but still find mistakes. I am busy copying Humpwhistles flash fiction so I can see how it's supposed to look on the page. That is my one big desire right now--write a 'killer flash'. But it was awfully nice of you to offer to help me write a cinquain. Talk later & thanks again. Marcia - | ||

ciliverde: I might have to try this: From Melville's White Jacket, Ch. 45, "Publishing Poetry in a Man-of-war" A volume of poetry written by an unfortunate poet on board was blasted from one of the ship's guns, and this observation followed. "That's the way to publish, White Jacket...fire it right into 'em...hull the blockheads whether they will or no..."! Haha! Not that I'm calling y'all blockheads, you understand.... |

ciliverde: Lesson learned today: if you're going to bring cooked beets to work for lunch, make sure to close the lid on the container securely. Enough said! |

ciliverde: Feeling thankful this morning for all I've learned from a very helpful group of people here. Thinking about some of my favorite passages from White Jacket and Heart of Darkness too, which provide inspiration. But now...time to take the pups on a trail run. |

ciliverde: I've been writing as a hobby since I was in high school. I mainly write short prose and poems but more recently started writing short stories. I'm a scientist by trade but have always enjoyed the literary arts, and am a huge fan of Joseph Conrad, Herman Melville, R. L. Stevenson and S. T. Coleridge. I can't hope to emulate those masters but I do enjoy writing as a hobby and a cathartic process. Carol. |
