raineywriter: Spending the weekend singing with the local choir, so no writing this weekend. Great group of people and I love the music. Singing is great for lifting the spirits. And a nice dinner with the other singers is a bonus. See you next week!

raineywriter: Two stories posted yesterday got great reviews. Let's see if it's possible to push them up to ''recognized'' status without spending vast amounts of money. Happy to review in return, even if points are low. Please take a look at RSVP and Meeting Fred. Thanks.

raineywriter: I need one more review of ''Bush Christmas'' to reach ''recognized'' status.

Anyone out there enjoy traditional style Australian bush poetry?
Dawn of Tomorrow: That was a great poem and quite the lesson. -

raineywriter: My latest novel was reviewed by Readers Favorite reviewer, Tracy A Fischer. She awarded it 5 stars, and look what she said:

In a great new read by author Lorraine Cobcroft, Mortgaged Goods is a story that will grab readers from the very first words and won't let go until the very last. Following protagonist Natalie Dreyer, a beautiful and gifted corporate attorney, the story takes so many twists and turns that one simply cannot predict what will happen next. Natalie and the handsome and charming Karl Albrecht seem to have a life that any would envy, that is, until tragedy strikes and difficult things from her past cause major issues for the couple. Karl and Natalie's lives certainly will intrigue and surprise author Lorraine Cobcroft's readers to no end.

I so enjoyed Mortgaged Goods. I started this book, intending to read just a few chapters one evening. Well, hours later and much, much later than I intended to be awake, I found myself finishing the very last pages, tired but satisfied! Author Lorraine Cobcroft has done a great job in creating characters that her readers will connect with, relate to, and continue to think about long after the book is done. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I don't know what is. Mortgaged Goods is exciting, full of surprises, and just a fantastic read! Any reader who loves an intriguing piece of contemporary women's fiction should absolutely pick up this book. I recommend this book highly and am very much looking forward to reading more from the very talented author Lorraine Cobcroft as soon as I possibly can!

raineywriter: A sad week this week, laying two loved ones to rest. But the presence of family and friends and the loyalty and love evident among them was heartwarming. It was a timely reminder of the value of friendship, and the un-importance of the material trappings and signs of ''success'' we spend so much time pursuing.
evilynne: So sorry to hear of your losses. Evi -
mrsmajor: I'm so sorry for your losses, I do agree with you...a friend of mine, just lost her husband, he was not ill, but had a massive heart attack...she has thanked, over and over again, all of us, for our help, and said through her family and dear friends, she was able to deal with her terrible loss...however much we may have, or our station in life, all of that means little at these times... -

raineywriter: I'm looking for old style rhyming poetry with a strong rhythm. I'm seeing lots of free verse here, and I appreciate it. Sometimes I write free verse. But I love the more conventional rhyming poetry with a good beat. Sometimes it's hard to find the kind of writing you like best on this site. I'd like a more advanced search system. Meanwhile, if you write the type of poetry I like, please send me a message and point me to your work. Thanks.
Linda Engel: You can check out my portfolio. I seldom so free verse and I do like to do story in a poem. Try Train Track jack. -
Joy Graham: Ooh, me, me!!! Pick me!!! I love traditional form poetry with lovely rhymes :) -
Joy Graham: and meter too, iambic tetrameter and iambic pentameter. -
Cass Carlton: Dear Raineywriter You may care to glance through my portfolio, to se if there is anything within it that you find appealing. I write as the Muse commands ,but a fair percentage is in structured rhyme. cheers Cass Carlton -
nancyjam: Feel free to check out my portfolio. I do write mostly metered verse. Thanks Nancy -

Mother of three, grandmother of 5, and loved for 45 years by the best life partner a woman could wish for, I'm lucky to be semi-retired and living in paradise (beachside Pottsville, NSW, Australia). I write to ''nudge the world a little''... to hopefully inspire readers to re-think their values and to understand others better. But while inspiring, I hope to also entertain. I am a member of two writing groups: Pottsville Wordsflow and Fairfield Writers Group (Brisbane), and I have the members and other wonderful friends to thank for helping me publish my first three books: ''Melanie's Easter Gift'' (a children's story), ''The Pencil Case'' (a minimally fictionalized biography) and ''Mortgaged Goods'', a women's fiction novel. I have stories and articles published in Anthologies and periodicals, and I authored extensive course-ware and informational books (many ghostwritten).
In my working life, I was a technical and business writer, but now I'm loving having the freedom to write what I please and the privilege of having wonderful writer friends who support and encourage my endeavors and celebrate my successes with me.
I love to review books and I believe I'm excellent at critiquing - provided the story is in a style and genre I'm comfortable with. I love to discover new talent, and have diverse tastes in reading. I'm looking forward to discovering YOU.
