Beverley101: Thank you to all the wonderful people - especially Elgone and Misrael - who have been so supportive of my memoir Yesterday's Fiend. As it comes to a close I want to take this opportunity to say that I'm sorry I've had so little time to review other people's work. As soon as YF does end I promise to re-start my reviewing. Beverley101: Seems like the last quarter of my memoir is the hardest to write.


Beverley101: Bogged down with too much work. Will get back on track with reviewing and posting as soon as I can.


Beverley101: Am I the only dum-dum that has no idea what SPAG means? Can someone enlighten me?
    adewpearl: it means spelling, punctuation and grammar - I had no idea what it meant when I first joined here either. I have no idea if anyone outside of Fan Story uses the term :-) -
    Beverley101: Thanks for clarifying. Have noticed that many of the writers here do need to work on SPAG - see I get it now! lol! -

Beverley101: Fell on the ice today and sprained my ankle. Can only hobble so I hope to use the time constructively on finishing a few more chapters of 'Yesterday's Fiend'.


Beverley101: Went to my first Writer's Group yesterday and found it enlightening. Reading my work aloud to the group immediately showed me where the shortcomings lay. Looking forward to my next one.
    Taffspride: I always enjoy my writer group meetings too. Have learned a great deal from them.

Beverley101: Ooops - lost one chapter of my book. Grrrr - how am I ever going to recall the words I used! Nobody's fault but my own. Double GRRRRR!!


Beverley101: I think you need to develop a bit of a thick skin if you want to be a writer plus good grammar, good punctuation and good spelling.

Beverley101: If you want to be a bonafide writer PLEASE, PLEASE take the time to spell correctly and check your grammar. Reviewing is fun but the fun wanes when you see spelling errors and silly grammar mistakes.


Beverley101: Grammar, punctuation and spelling are absolutely necessary if you want to be a good writer.
    MumEsGirl: for me, and many others, spending time seeking out errors in other peoples work is non productive. A comma here and there does not detract from the work. We do not seek to be purists here. There are many people here, myself included for whom English is not their first language. Instead of castigating them for their errors and offering insulting ratings, either encourage them or skip their work
