    lishareading: Michelle, I just reviewed your first two posts of the story you are writing, and really like the concept. My only concern is your grammar and style. I should probably mention that I am a middle/upper school librarian who edits student's papers with them all the time. So, I took a piece of your story and rewrote it with my changes so you could see the difference and judge for yourself. If you like it, you can work on it, if not you can just forget what I said and keep writing.Yet another time he insisted on taking me shopping for groceries because he was my best friend, and he was concerned I wasn't eating properly. While we were shopping, he unexpected told me how much I meant to him and I should love him as well; nothing was wrong about these feelings because there are many different kinds of love. From that point on, when he called me on the phone, which I started answering to keep him from coming over, he would end by saying, â??I love you.â?? I just couldn't respond and simply hung hang up even knowing he expected me to respond the same way.

mmmichelle34: Free verse poetry is free from the normal rules of poetry. The poet may choose to include some rhyming words but the poem does not have to rhyme. A free verse poem may be just a sentence that is artistically laid out on the page or it can be pages of words. Some forms of free verse separate, or split, phrases and words between lines. Punctuation may be absent or it may be used to place greater emphasis on specific words. The main object of free verse is to use colorful words, punctuation, and word placement to convey meaning to the reader.
Free verse poetry became popular and acceptable during the 20th century, although scattered examples of the style were found previously. Walt Whitman is considered by many to be the first English free verse poet.

    MyYiaYia: There are lots of great poets on this site. Read what they write and you will get a feel for it after a while. Then there are many websites which can help you learn all the different types of poetry. Shadowpoetry.com is a good one to start with. If you continue writing and enter the contests, the reviewers will tell you what you got right, what you got wrong, and many will even show you how to improve it. The best thing I can tell you is to stay here and keep trying, be willing to learn, don't take things personally, everyone is only trying to help, and you will be surprised at how different your writing will be and how it has matured at the end of a year.     livelylinda: Michelle, what I have learned about writing poetry is this: it does not have to rhyme but it can. I've been told that poetry is such if it has rhythm, but free verse poetry doesn't have rhythm and it is an acceptable kind of poetry. I found this book definition somewhere: "The art of rhythmical composition by beautiful, imaginative or elevated thoughts; in metrical form; verse;lofty thought, impassioned feeling expressed in imaginative words; the measured language of emotion. To me, what poetry is: when something strikes me emotionally, I have to write it down. These poems guide themselves to whether or not they rhyme or not and in what format they are written. I find it almost impossible to write on demand, like a contest pops up and you have 24 hours to write something about something. I usually can't do it. livelylinda -

mmmichelle34: I feel like i need to write something on my wall so maybe you all will know me in general. I have always liked writting down my feelins on paper in a way I felt it was understandable to me but yet could be interpted in all different ways to another person. my biggest problem is and always was the spelling lol... when I was younger love poems came out in me the most. the feelings of a broken heart, and of course the feelings of being with that special someone for the for ever stage. Now as I am older I have grown more content at my being and my newer stages of life . and as I have noticed humor is always good .. and to bring a smile to ones face is always helpful. so i would like to write a little something now and maybe brighten someones day because i beleive you can find humor in just about every thing if you word it right..

I guess i will name her Misty because thats the kind of cigarettes I smoke LOL..............

she flipps a cigarette butt into the toliet. The cigarette lands on a peace of toilet paper still smoking and buring towards the butt. As she goes to sit on the toilet a strong rise of gas flows from her ass causing the cigarette she just threw in the toilet to ignite the toilet paper which in turn rises from the toilet burning her ass. As she jumps up with fright more gas travels from her ass and causes the fire to explode the toilet. Luckly the lady makes it out with light burns. (( " The lesson of the day")) Never throw your BUTT in the toilet.
