jhwgburnett: Well, I didn't make the 50,000 words that NaNoWriMo wanted, my excuse being bad health. I have however had a lot of fun, and I will finish it next year.
JB Lynn: Hey, words written are words written. 50K is just a number, and even if you didn't make it, you've got more words now than you did in October. Who says you have to wait until next November to finish the story? Why not keep working on it? (Of course, being a fellow Nanoer, myself, I can understand the need for a break.) Congratulations for attempting the challenge. -
jhwgburnett: Thanks so much for your support, JB
I mean I will finish it early in the new year. -

jhwgburnett: Since my current novel attempt stalled, mostly because of medical reasons, I worked out a partial outline to an urban fantasy. When the moderator of my nascent writing group told us about NaNoWriMo which encourages people to try and write a complete novel in November, I said I would give it a shot. I don't expect a masterwork as I am looking at 2000+ words a day everyday for that month, (and I work full time!)nor does the movement which is simply about authors getting words down. I just see it as a bit of fun, and screw the pressure and to hell with the inevitable lousy reviews. I have no idea if the site is into NaNoWriMo as I haven't exactly been active here for some months. It's going to be a challenge as my outline still has lots of holes. I'm going to need a barrel of luck.
JB Lynn: I've met several writers on here who are into Nano (myself included!). I think if you intend to post un-edited versions of your nano novel here 1-you're braver than me and 2-you might want to just leave a brief comment in your "author's notes" letting people know the context to read your story in. Either way, I think Nano is a terrific experience to get those creative juices flowing. Good luck fellow Nanoer! -
jhwgburnett: Thanks, JB. I am really just doing this for the experience. Realistically I expect the quality to drop as the month wears on, especially as the outline isn't finished yet. The point is mostly to give myself a huge kick in the backside. I appreciate the note suggestion, Seems like a plan. I will post everyday, at least until I shrivel up. -

jhwgburnett: Okayyyyy!!! Unexpectedly - I really didn't see it coming - I have received an offer on The Decision from an e-publisher. Sorry, but the book is now disabled, and will only reappear if I cannot alter it to the publisher's satisfaction. I hope that doesn't happen. Now I will really have yo do some hard work!

jhwgburnett: Well, at my wife's urging I took the plunge and decided to put "Will" out there, as "The Wheelwright's Apprentice". I had to disable 'Will'. Can't find the ASIN number yet so no cover. All I can do now is wait and see. Image sometime in the distant future.

jhwgburnett: Well, two replies! I'm flabberghasted, as I'm one of the guys who seem to hide in the cracks of Fanstory's server, notwithstanding the amount of guff I've deposited here. Thanks for the encouragement.
    DIS-illusioned: You welcome, jhw--anytime.:) -

jhwgburnett: Okay, after an hiatus brought on by various rather TMI cancer treatments. I am soon to embark on another novel. I will admit to being unprofessiolal about it, as I tend to write for myself and fun, rather than with an eye on eventual publication. It's not that I think I'm not good enough, I just enjoy writing. I also have a cynical streak that tends to push my work in the direction of parody. I also try to be different. Not the ideal commercial combination, but I always hope to entertain.
Lady & Louis: I think writing for one's own pleasure is the best reason to do it - never mind about publication and possible $$$, that's the worst reason, for me. Turns it into a job. After all "amateur" didn't always have the perjorative connotation it's picked up; it meant doing something for the love of it and had nothing to do with skill level. -
    DIS-illusioned: You're my kinda writer, jhw... :) -

jhwgburnett: I like writing. It's a quiet, harmless hobby that keeps what's left of my brain from turning to mush. Although I've tried reviewing, I don't think I can do it very well, so I don't. In any case, as I have a full time job (not forgetting the full time family) I don't really have the time to do enough proper reviews to make an impact.

Even with the few times I have promoted my stuff, I've never had enough reviews to drop a lousy one, let alone enough to try and get any work hailed as an accomplishment. It'll be a miracle if I ever do. Nevertheless, I try to make my stuff interesting, and I hope worth a couple of your minutes.
