Gymshews is a middle aged guy with 2 grown daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter, all of whom are truly "grand". He is tempted to try writing, mainly because his best friend is a gifted poet and author who keeps encouraging him. He has no special training in writing, focusing his educational training mainly in physical and biological science fields. He is an avid reader who appreciates good writing and is beginning to appreciate the art and craftsmanship of good poetry.

He deeply believes that organizations and governments are generally instruments of evil, that while preaching good things to their citizens/employees, in fact work at self-serving goals that are the main cause of wars, unhappiness and stress in our civilization and in today's world. He feels we need to listen to people, talk to people and interact with people, not organizations and governments, in order to thrive and survive in this world. Instruments such as cell phones, e-mail, faxes and television, while promoted as communication devices in reality create barriers to true communication and understanding. Nothing beats looking someone in the eye, talking face to face and telling someone how you feel.

He has spent his professional career primarily in the health sciences, initially as a paramedic, then as a registered nurse primarily in emergency rooms, a short stint at teaching science in the middle schools and then (and currently) as a physician assistant practicing
emergency medicine in a suburban community in central Washington State.

The only sane man is the one who believes himself insane.
