Interests
movies, reading, TV (Mama's addicted to stories)
Monet Mama is an eternal student who finds meaning in everything and never has understood the concept of having fun for fun's sake, but respects those who do. She often reminds herself how boring she is then promptly follows with how much she likes it that way, maybe because she's been a grown up since before she knew what a grown up was.

Mama lives in her head, which makes living in the 'real world' very uncomfortable. She loves being a wife and mother (perhaps the only part of the 'real world' she finds gratifying), but perpetual exhaustion and recurring depression make external life very challenging. Her responsibilities as Mother precede all others, but frequently drive away the internal life that is her sanity, and her identity.

Mama cries during Hallmark commercials, but not her husband's most romantic gestures (to his eternal frustration, the dear man). She's not afraid to step out of the box, but she will make damn sure it's worth the risk!

At nearly 33, she still *sigh* gets carded for alcohol and tobacco. She's told it's a blessing and sure she'll come to appreciate it.

Mama is invigorated by healthy debate. She also, often, has to be gotten out of her own way :). She's always planning more than any human can possibly accomplish, but that's no consolation when she falls short. Mama is her biggest critic, as many of us here are. She's unforgiving of her own short-comings. She will put up with a lot from people for longer than most, but when she's had enough (or if you catch her on the wrong day) she will fearlessly confront people twice her size and not regret a moment of what she says or does.

Monet Mama is a bit scatter-brained, and always has been, mostly because the life in her head is so delightfully distracting. She's scarred but usually optimistic, some may say naive. She has an aversion to mirrors, is overly-empathetic (not a good thing for a depressive, though many depressives are) and often said to be too honest (she has been known to return pens she accidentally "stole" from the bank drive-thru window).

Mama is German and Native American, mostly German. She'll fight to death for what she believes in, but what she believes in most is advocating for the plight of those for whom life is worse than death (please pardon the cliche).

Monet Mama often feels she exists out of time, though no previous era entirely suits her and the future doesn't look any more promising. She's traveled some and lived in the Midwest, the South, even Germany (for a spell), but corn country runs in her veins so she returned to her native Indiana.

Mama is in every piece she writes, though not always in the most obvious way. She is also a bit long-winded, as you have surely already noticed, especially when explaining herself since she has, in whole, never been understood. Ever. She is humbled, though, by her husband's patience and endless attempts to make sense of her.

Thanks to all of you who have given her voice a place where it is welcomed, appreciated and heard. To her fans, she is eternally grateful!
