"Michael O'Donovan" is a nom de plume and was, in fact, the real name of the well known Irish short-story writer, Frank O'Connor. Michael lives in the South of Ireland but is greatly influenced by the culture of the Aran Islands off the West Coast of that country. He likes to use the Irish language (Gaelic) and Irish (especially Celtic) mythology in his writings. His favourite poet is, not surprisingly, W.B. Yeats and he has been heard to complain about Yeats that he has written all the best lines and "left little or nothing to help a new aspiring poet to become great."
Michael is in his early sixties and works in the legal field. He is a father and grandfather and is secondly and very happily married.
