Roger: I agree with you on the title rethinking. I couldn't come up with a proper title because my thoughts were overpowering and I kept on writing. The original words changed by the time I wrote the poem. What title you would have given, if I may ask? Thanks for your gracious review and the ranking. All the best. Hope you will stay safe and healthy.

You make birth sound complex and I have never given it that much thought before reading your poem here. We are shaped by our genes, our environment and by our inner intuition and I hope that everyone is born into a world that shows them some love, food for thought here, love Dolly x

Hello Dolly: I think birth is rather a simple and well designed process but being born is a complex system which we have not yet figured out. We indeed are shaped by the genes but do not have knowledge of how an egg among the millions, stored in a female ovary, gets selected, and how one sperm among the several millions gets to reach that egg to start the transfer of genetic material inside the womb. what programing accomplishes this process, is the complex science and since we do not know, we assign it to that power, which makes things happen without our conscious participation. This is my point of view and it may not sit well with many who believe it as an act of providence. Thanking you for your meaningful comment and ranking. Hope yo are safe and healthy.

This poem speaks at random thoughts about reflections of life and living from birth to growing age carrying an invisible soul and persona through transmigration of body, organ and self; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

Dear Alcreator: I am pleased with the realization that my random thoughts did get across to my reviewers. I have been pondering on the question that many may be doing in these difficult times. God's existence and at the same time absence from the world scene, made me think about the life. I appreciate your thoughtful comments and thanks for the encouraging stars. My best regards and wishes.

Congratulations on this fascinating piece! I had to read it over a few times to grasp sections of it. So saying, I'm still not sure I fully understand; it's very deep! You've got me pondering my own beliefs now...

Dear A Little Bird: I am humbled by your note. You are a thinking person who read the message along with the words and phrases. The poem deals with the unanswered and not yet solved mystery of life and existence of a superior power we call God, Allah, and Yahve among many other names. The eastern thinkers from the antiquity have separated the body from its source of power, we may call soul and they called Self. Body is made of Carbon and other elements and there fore it is from the dust as the Biblical text tells us. The soul that powers (so we believe), is the energy that is introduced into that body and in Genesis, it is identified as the breath of the God (Father). Hindu concept is that the energy is part and parcel of the eminent source called Spirit. The Old Testament identifies it as, "Ruh". In the poem, I tried to put forth that point of ambiguity-when energy or soul or Ruh, is introduced into the body, which is by itself, an inert and unmoving object. From scientific knowledge of monitoring this aspect of life, we have learned that the conception is the consequence of the fertilizations of an egg by a single sperm and the growth of a fetus into a full body occurs in the womb with mother's supply of nutrients, oxygen etc., and the body is sealed with all its orifices closed and submerged in the amniotic fluid in a sac until it is ready to enter the world outside of the womb when it has to be running on its own steam. Question then arises when and how that happens and who has designed it. Not knowing that answer, we look up to that power we always have given credit for accomplishing, all that we cannot find the answers. This takes us to the philosophers. Pascal, a renown, 17th century French philosopher advised (Known as Pascal's Wager), that, in an argument if God exists and does not exists, and a wager is called for, bet on He exists, even though you don't believe he does. The rationale behind this is: "Neither side can prove with the empirically obtained proof, their argument is right, therefore, bet on the side of He exists, just in case he does, and shows up."
The last lines mention my take on this and as a follower of Existential philosophical thoughts that Humanity is alone responsible for its own actions and failures and success of it is in its hand and not that of any external entity. Under the influence of it, I follow Pascal's path. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your encouraging ratings and opportunity to explain it. Wow, thankyou for such an in-depth answer! I was brought up as a Christian and studied the bible extensively as a child. Since puberty I began to explore other beliefs, as I was uncomfortable with and confused by some of what I had been taught. Still in my 20s, I continue to question and search for truth!

Indeed religions are confusing at times and there is no exception to this fact that each one is developed from the original texts to suit the needs of the times they are practiced. My thoughts evolved with my age, experience and the knowledge. Buddhist value truth as a living truth; one that is self-discovered. Buddha challenged his followers to seek truth on their own and Jesus told his closest companion-Thomas, "I am not your master. Because you have drunk, you have become drunk from the bubbling stream which I have measured out....He who will drink from my mouth will become as I am:I myself shall become he, and the things that are hidden will be revealed to him."(Ref.- Elaine Pagels. The Gnostic Gospels. page xx, Random House. New York-Publishers).
I practiced my search of truth based on these principles. I hope you will find yours too. Thanks for writing. If you wish to communicate with me in future, write to me. My email is-niyuta@aol.com. Good luck. Stay safe and healthy.

This is a thoughtful poem. I like how you present both arguments. The last stanza was especially powerful. Very creative and well written. I enjoyed it.
