It is a rainy night in Georgia, Sally, with all the storms going your way. Now that's trick or treat, the time to fly under the moon is a no-no. :) You miss your witch? Her month to shine. :) People are funny, I recall my aunt being labeled a witch, event my uncles said so, but with me she was wonderful. She could cure anything using herbs that grew wild. Your true story is awesome except for you crying. P.S. I like your mom.

Hey Sally :)
I loved reading this piece.
I can just imagine you as a little girl and your mum being your superhero.
What a horrible old lady you had the misfortune of getting on the wrong side of. I'm glad your mum gave her an earful!
Best wishes, Debra :) x

Did you have to fix the car? I had neighbors like that too. We had feuds with some, one I'm now friends with her daughter on Facebook. I guess she forgot we didn't like each other as kids. This is really well done, no errors and a fun story. I don't know what my mom would have done, I'd have been in trouble though. =[

No, but my brother offered to fix the scratch. He was a local car mechanic. She didn?t last too long in this apartment complex. No one liked her.Thank you for the wonderful review! Sal XOs.....

Beautiful story, Sal! You had a wonderful mother, who was in your corner, all the way! But you obviously know that. I grew up in a single-parent home, also -- my parents separated when I was three, but my grandparents were around to lend a hand. In your case, you were the one who helped your mother! But she defended you so wonderfully, and the wicked witch was no match for her!
What a miserable soul that nasty woman must have been. Some people just don't like children, I think.
I love both of your songs, but for different reasons. "Rainy Night in Georgia" is just so beautiful and soulful, and the song from "The Wizard of Oz" just brings back memories! We had the record album, and I will have most of the words memorized for the rest of my life. Lol.
Great choices, and your image is also perfect!

And a beautifully penned review from my dear Mary Kay. Your reviews always make me feel like a queen with a crown of stars! I?m so glad you enjoyed it all and all the music I picked out especially for this. I?m sure we would?ve been good friends as children and I can?t wait to see you in heaven above and walk the streets of gold together. Sending you my best today as always and blessings for your day,

You're very welcome, Sally, my friend, and I am blessed to know you. Yes, to both -- we would have been good friends as children, and I would love to walk those golden streets of God's city, with you! Hallelujah! Bless your heart and your husband's, too.
    Love and hugs, Mary Kay

Brings to mind the song... 🎼🎶🎵
"...Soon the pearly gates will open,
We shall tread the streets of gold!
When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
    When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory!"

Go Mom! A wicked delight--masterful storytelling. Cheers. LIZ (her just dessert s/b her just deserts--derived from deserve--the expression is normally used in a negative sense--wishing ill on another as in: you'll get what you deserve, you witch! vs the witch herself relishing getting the vengeance she thinks due her.)

LOL. I LOVE IT. She did it right. I could see this happening. So the old gal caught the late flight for the bat man's cave in the middle of a rainy night in Georgia. Must have been another blue bike in the neighborhood.
Good one Sal.

This autobiographical story is excellent in every respect. The storyline is well-detailed and flows smoothly along. Dialogue is well-written. The theme conveyed is realistic and moving. There are unapproachable people who make normal conversations impossible.

Your mother, your champion! Sal, this is a wonderful story of a loving, close knit family. Your mother trusted you implicitly and you trusted her. The witch like neighbour is appropriate for the season. But I also see her as symbolic of the many unfair and bullying people encountered in life. Your story reminds us that only love prevails.

Thanks for sharing Sal

Stay safe and blessed

Julia

You are lucky you had a mom who was always on your side. Some people don't seem to like children and are move concerned about possessions than people. I am surprised someone didn't have to pay for the last damage to the car which you actually accidentally caused. The lady certainly didn't have a very pleasant way about her. Nicely written memory.

What a well told true story, Sal. I think you captured the thoughts and fears of your eight-year-old self very well. Those days when everything seemed so much bigger than they actually were and responsibilities too often fell on the shoulders of children. You defined the setting just perfectly and there is great warmth in the home despite a challenging circumstance.

Every town seemed to have a Witch of Renee Court and yours was particularly bold and "witchy". Thank goodness your mother stood up for you.

Much enjoyed your attachments too. Rainy Night in Georgia is a favourite.

Excellent writing and a fine read. :)

Gloria
