Enjoyed reading your lovely sonnet about Cornwall. I wonder if your have some English ancestry? Perhaps that's why you feel such a connection to the land when you saw it. I like how your third stanza explains the need to "seek a gentler life in which to reign" and how you conclude with a prayer for the land to continue its "feral purity."

You didn't tell me you'd been to England, of course this is the land of my birth, and a most familiar, in the hymn "Jerusalem", it describes it as a "green and pleasant land" and it is, Cornwall is among my most favourite places on Earth, along with, the Lake District, home of William Wordsmith, author of "Daffodils" And Beatrix Potter. Along with Shropshire, Devon, my grandfather's birthplace Wales, mine Liverpool. This is beautifully written Janet, thank you, you brought happy memories of travelling from Landsend to John O' Groats with my brother. Well done, beautifully written Janet. Blessings Roy

Thank you dear Roy for the lovely review. I did know you were from England and should have talked to you before the trip to get some tips and the inside scoop on what to see. This was my 3rd time to England. Once, we stayed in London and another, we visited England, Scotland and Wales. This time was mostly to Cornwall with a visit to Stonehenge and Bath on our way to London where were spent a few days.
So happy to hear of your favorite places and yours and your family birthplaces. I do hope the world settles down and we can travel there again.
Blessings and stay well.
Janet

When one researches the practices of Olde England and the way it used to treat its citizens compared the way they are treated today. You must celebrate and honor the progress they have made as a society. You begin to realize how far behind the United States has fallen. Many of the human rights abuses and violations from that past still exist here in the US. Even though we know better, some of our leaders have little if anything to redress the situation. I am sorry, I did not meant to preach but we are so far behind the British when it comes to our view of humanity.

Thank you for this insightful review. England (at least in the countryside) seems to be like we were when I was growing up.
So pleased that you liked it.

You paint a lovely picture here in your poem. The imagery created by your well chosen words is great. The hedgerows crossing the hills, the horses racing to and fro. All, so prevalent.
What a blessing it was last year.

England is a beautiful country to visit. I am so happy that you were able to visit the country before the pandemic took over all travel. Your poem reveals the things you saw and the pleasure you received. Well done!

Enjoyed the "trip" to the moors. I could in your words see the landscape and also imagine the riders crossing.
I could also see where an alone feeling may come across also with your reader with the as the description of mist and open fields.
Well done in giving your readers Cornwall.

Your sonnet is beautiful. I enjoyed reading it. Great work with the style of sonnet. The picture is a perfect pairing, too. Your notes were informative. I'm thrilled you were able to make the trip. Your lines flow smoothly with good rhymes and great imagery. I could see and feel the sights and emotions described.
Respectfully, Jan
