Another interesting chapter on the fifty states. I like how you keep blending in basic, unique, and personal facts into your book. I had a feeling "Live free or die" had something to do with the revolutionary war.

LOL!! For a smallish state, there sure is a lot to write about New Hampshire, yeah?! ;) Another wonderful addition to your collection, sir -- thanx for enlightening us! ;) Yvette

You have New Hampshire a found writeup. Residents of this state should feel good. Your only connection seemed to be a son with a degree from that state. That's impressive to have a son who is a writer with a Master degree in the field. I've been there once in the early October and I was impressed with it's fall beauty. I learned a lot I didn't know about it from your post.

I've been following along with your state stories and have been in many of them myself. I was in Nebraska in 1970 in July in a station wagon with 5 adults and 5 kids. It was a boat of a station wagon. No air conditioning. Hotter than hell. The flattest state I've ever driven through. We hung our tongues out to see how long it took them to dry out!
But back to New Hampshire. So the state logo on their quarters, and road markers is the Old Man on the Mountain. A rock outcropping that looked like the profile of an old man. We were there in 2002. Shortly after that after a foggy morning they found that the Old Man had finally collapsed from years of weather conditions. We always wondered if they changed their signs and quarters.

The quarters, no, because, well, that's the U.S. Treasury. Whew! made the quarter though.

Because NH borders our state and I have a sister in the White Mountain and a brother in the country to this attracted my attention. I did not know that the property taxes were high. There is much here that I did not know.
NH has much to be proud of.
Thank you for the information.

that's really interesting about the electric supply. Interesting state motto, but with the sate history I can see why it was chosen. I always thought Adam Sandler was from New Jersey, no sure why.

I just collect data, but don't verify it. I thought he was a New Yorker.

Dear Bill as always your presentation is impeccable. Glad to know that New Hampshire has 17 miles of coast line, on most maps it looks like it doesn't have any.
But I bag to differ with you about the skiing . Has anyone measured in yards or miles, the length of a downhill ski run, in New Hampshire, compared to the ones here in Utah or Colorado?

According to what I just read, you can get up to 11ooo feet to ski in Colorado, which is much higher than NH. My essay is not admissible in a court of law.

I thought so, I will not sue you for misinformation anyway, Love your stuff too much!

Welcome, Bill. What kind of writing does your son do?
reply by the author on 02-Oct-2020
He began with children's fantasy, then moved to science fiction. He is moving to nonfiction, I believe, as his desire to work with teenagers and social welfare leads him. Thanks for asking.
reply by Pam (respa) on 02-Oct-2020
How wonderful that he not only writes, but wants to work with teens, too. Thanks for sharing.

Oh I've never been there and I was looking forward to some personal reminiscing about your time in New Hampshire. But all the same it was an interesting read. It's not actually on my bucket list of places to visit. But who knows what can happen in a post pandemic world?

Catch you in New Jersey.

Stay safe and healthy Bill

Blessings Julia

Hi Bill. this is a great tour of the State and what it stands for. It all resonates with me as my American half is from MA and that's where I have my family. I'm now looking forward to New Jersey. Ulla:)))
