A very well-written poem about happiness when we retire happiness becomes our new priority. There's no need to rush to the next meeting just be yourself.

Happiness in retirement can be elusive. So, we chase it in an RV. This week, Utah. I will admit that sometimes still I miss the battles, but I use my golf clubs as a support group and it passes. Thanks for reading my offering and writing.

It sure sounds like you've got it sorted. And you can write poetry too! That's rather clever, with a golf club in one hand, a beer in the other, and a dog on your lap (or is it the wife?).

Truth is, the wife stop sitting on my lap after the third child. Anyway, she was so much younger when I married her. The dogs trade me love for food. Thanks for reading my offering and writing to me.

I like the bit of humor in this. A smile on the face of the reader is always a good idea for a writer to achieve. You make me want to retire and live the simple life of going where I want and living how I wan. Oh, to leave it all behind. What a wonder way to live. And the wife too.

Well done.

...but, there is a downside. Where once the years of work and family duties seemed to drag on, now my life's clock is spinning like a ceiling fan. Where do the years go? And my wife! She was so much younger when I married her! Thanks for reading and reviewing my offering. To make a reader smile is indeed a win.

Nothing better to describe happiness than the feeling you have when you can finally sit back, relax and enjoy your own special pleasures! You have some nice rhyming sequences and I enjoyed how you describe your younger days gone by and how you have replicated within your poem what makes you happy, "Dogs, golf, RV with fridge outside..." My favorite, though, is your "Full Disclosure" verse - perfect conclusion to your very "Happy Poem!" Well done!

So glad you read my poem and wrote to me. Glad you liked it! Full disclosure: I wrote that last verse for the ladies - especially the mean one I've been married to for 43 years! Thanks!

I love this happy poem. You described your trials and tribulations and your finding happiness in retirement with "Dogs, golf, RV with fridge outside". It doesn't matter what you do - as long as you are happy doing it. Often we realize it with advanced years. Excellent rhyming, meter, cadence; artistic presentation and that artwork (is it you in the picture?)

Enjoy your happy life and God bless you.

Guilty as charged. That's me with Sissie and Tucker. We are currently on a 7 week odyssey out West, this week in Yellowstone, then Utah, Grand Canyon and home to Texas in time to vote. So glad you liked my poem. Thanks.
