How life has changed now that we can't meet up with people face to face for fear of catching the virus and now we look odd on a computer screen! "we heap deep onto our plates" does this mean you are over-eating? Ha ha ha, you made me smile here, love Dolly x

Dolly, too much so! Fortunately, our sports club just reopened allowing six at a time, I will find myself among that number..but I dread the tread.....mill, ugh!

Are you tired of Zooming, Jim? Well I hope you will not ditch the class on Tuesday because you are too pale, or too frail, or you are bored or have been gored. Ugh, now I am getting silly.... fun read!!

Your 15 minute free verse challenge reads well. There is good flow, god internal rhymes such as zoom/room and pale/stale, the art choice works well, and your message is strong. I agree. Sometimes we all need to chill--to get away wherever that may be now.
Respectfully, Jan

Your words reach me loud and clear...it's a week already that I am not watching the news, even the weather news...they are alarming as well. I go for a walk, instead. Preserving my sanitu.

This free verse, Time Out, seems to be pushing back against the further intrusion of technology into our lives which trades long meetings for endless meetings.

I was surprised to see this was done in 15 minutes! I like the way this poem bounces around like a normal conversation. It is interesting the new things we find to keep ourselves busy, when we could all use a time out.
Great write!

JLR,
Your piece speaks volumes for what being plugged in means for the human race today. Sadly, to be "unplugged" brings the stress of:
what am I missing? When was that meeting scheduled for? Who was supposed to pick up the kids? Where are schematics for that project?
Oh I agree with you JLR- would that we could not zoom, or telehealth or text message or snap chat.
But the stress of missing all these unimportant/important events may not be worth the price. Or is it?
I really enjoyed your piece- thank you for sharing JLR unplugged!

Dear JLR, a challenge like this really makes us aware of what is really going on, because we do not not have time to edit the thoughts streaming thru our heads.
I was particularly interested in your remark about " deep heaping our plates" up with something or other.
Is this what you do to yourself?

Suzanna, voids or blocks of time That are Inactive and non functional are my put that I can fall into at times. Those are the most difficult because I am a very social hugger handshakes person and zooming just doesn?t jerk my gherkin so to speak.

Dear JLR , Thank you for answering in words more clear. I think I understand a little better. Particularly the part about zooming. I find myself taking 4 to 20 times longer to do some task, (like change the sheets and remake my bed ) than anybody else in this house.
I don?t get depressed, I just flake out! z z z z read my last rhyming poem ( the one with the Santa Clause photo.
That Is Me (in the library at our local Senior Center.)

This is incredibly insightful. My daughters are using zoom for their college classes and they worry about the lighting, the room, how they look...it's crazy. This world has really changed! This is a great poem, thanks for sharing.

Boogie nights, I laugh back! We must adjust to our new normals in this less than desirous time we find ourselves, I have always been a hugger and high-fiver type of person, I so miss human face to face interaction.

This is a great, relatable piece you have offered up for the fabulous free verse club challenge. Sounds like a fun club. I was never any good at free verse.
God bless
