Sandra (sandramitchell Your final letter is the Zebra being your last chapter in your excellent book Amazing Animals.
I learned a lot about zebras I didn't know . Great pictures of the spotted and the zebra half with and the rest stripped.

Hi Sandra--
Again fun, a fun poem as well.

A few "nits" here:
he female()s trust, which can take up to three years! needs an apostrophe

who have fought other males for the right () travel with that herd and mat "to?"

Sorry I have tuned in so late to this fun effort. But I have enjoyed what I have read.

Best
Wabigoon/Jeff

You've made it all the way to Z! Great job! Gotta love those zebras. I didn't know they could mate with horses and donkeys. Those pictures almost don't look real. I'd love to see one in person.

Congratulations - you made it through the entire alphabet. What a wonderful series this was. Your poems were spot on, the photographs enhanced them and all your notes were so interesting.

You put so much effort into this book, Sandra, and I want you to know I acknowledge all your hard work. Hugs, Lou

Sandra,

What fun! I'm so proud of you for having completed the whole alphabet in such a quick and timely manner. I am sure you plan to publish and I congratulate you on another children's book WINNER!

Notes:
1.) Even if it wins the battle, it still has to win the females(') trust, which can take up to three years!

2.) who have fought other males for the right (to) travel with that herd and mate with the females in the harem.

I enjoyed this a lot. I appreciate all the time, research and fun you put into these pieces. Your grands are a lucky lot!

Well, I must admit, I almost hate for your fun little book to end. But I'm sure you'll be back soon with something just as entertaining. Way back around 1970 a man brought a zebra he wanted me to break to ride. He paid $2,000 upfront ($15,000 today), and said I was the fourth person to give it a try. Young and stupid, I promised that if it could be done, I could do it. The man said I came with high recommendation. Before it was over, I wanted to shoot the recommenders. Broken arm, leg, and back in two places, not counting gashes and contusions . . . me, not the zebra. The zebra broke me before I broke him, but finally he snapped a leg off and had to be euthanized. He fought to the death, and I cried for a week that I had had any part of it. Years later, another person tired to hire me to break a zebra. I told him for the sake of his zebra don't even try it. Sorry, for the novella. You just bring out my talkative side. :-)

Did you get to keep the $2000 for your efforts? I think you would have needed it for your hospital bills!!! My word, Ric, I bet that zebra was laughing as he was bucking you off his back. But it was so sad that he broke his leg and had to be put down, and can understand you being upset about it. I should imagine that although you never broke him, you both had a mutual respect for each other and did become friends in a weird way. I wonder if anyone has ever managed to break a zebra, they must have a much stronger willpower than the horse. Thank you for sharing your novella! lol, and never be sorry for being chatty, I love it.

And now, thank you so very much for the lovely six stars, and all the support you've given me with this book. You've been great. Sending you a hug, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Yes, the $2,000 was upfront just for whatever I could get done. I was the man's last resort. He also paid all the hospital and doctor bills and even gave me a bonus at the end for being so diligent in my efforts. I gained great respect for the zebra. He bucked, rolled, flipped, kicked, rammed, and even tried to drown us both when I hobbled him in a creek. He was a valiant warrior who refused to lose. I have read about zebras being broke, but the breaking process began soon after birth. I can tell you with confidence that no two-year-old zebras will ever be broken to ride. LOL. Thanks for the hug! And for always being so sweet. I'm sending you a great big bear hug and a peck on the forehead!

Well, he was a decent enough fellow to have done all that, but I'm sure he won't be getting another zebra to ride. lol. Thank you for the bear hug, and the peck on the forehead, I'm all smiles now! xxx

Awe, Sandra, it has come to an end!!! And what a beautiful end. Your pictures had me in tears and the spotted Zebra just did me in. Isn't it beautiful? Again I've learned so much, I didn't know. How I wish there were more letters to the English alphabet. I have so enjoyed this series,my friend. A big hug. Ulla xxxx

Whats the virus like in your area? It sounds as if it's creeping up again everywhere. Will there be an end to it? Take care, my friend. xxx

Hi Sandra, it's going very badly here in Spain. I fear we will have a new lock down soon, although the government is reluctant to do so. The country can't afford it. The tourism was all but shut down which accounts for 15% of
Spain's income. Part of Madrid is now in total lock down again.
Throughout history pandemics have lasted about two years, so, unless they find a vaccine, that's what we're looking at, whether we like it or not. xxx

It does seen that way, it's the same here, parts are in lock down, and others are in semi lock down. Graham and I are keeping clear as much as possible. Stay safe, my friend. :))
reply by Ulla on 21-Sep-2020
Same to you. I'm staying clear, as well. Walk my dog where nobody is around and only occassionally get together with local friends but outside. We are lucky here in the mountains. xxx

This is very interesting, so informative I don't know where to begin. I sure didn't know the stripes were different or that a baby is born so big. Guess they grow into their legs, lol. I imagine it would be mind-blowing for a dog to be barked out by such a stripped creature. probably My furry babies would probably run away, lol. The Zonkey is cute, the Zorse odd, a true mix of both mom and dad. The spotted zebra is adorable.

LOL, I could just imagine that with the dog getting barked at by a zebra, that would be so funny.
