How cute and clever. It seemed like such an important task, searching and searching for that something??? I'm sure you have a winner there. Good luck.

This free verse, A Frantic Search, takes a fairly small event and finds the anxiety, mystery, and sense of accomplishment in its successful completion. Nice.

LOL!! I knew it had to be something we may not guess... I did, at first, think it was your glasses (I do that sometimes) or even my glass of tea!! ;) LOL! ;) Thanx so much for sharing! ;) Yvette

A fun graphic that binds the poem to the challenge well and although not a needle and thread kind of guy, my grandma was so I do understand and evoke a smile, thank you.

I love the artwork you choose to go with your poem, they are a perfect match.
You captured my attention from the start and was surprise you were so serious to find the matching color to go with you embroidery
thank you for sharing

This was great reading and a wonderful free verse. I liked the way you used the word 'match' to relate to your embroidery thread. I probably would have used it as a stick match, not even thinking about matching it to something. Very creative and very well done.

You are so welcome, Yvonne. A quick question if I may. Did you change your picture?
reply by the author on 18-Sep-2020
I did, but I'm seeing the same one of my garden area.
reply by aryr on 19-Sep-2020
Okay well I am seeing a smiling, beautiful face.

This is an excellent posting for the Free Verse Club--vividly descriptive, with strong word choices, lighthearted, and delightful. Though not gifted at anything involving needlework, I appreciate those with those talents.

A very well-written free verse poem about finding to the best co!or of yarn to match the rest of the completed embroidery picture that will blend in with the rest of the yarn.

I was drawn into the poem immediately with the emotional words: Frantic,
running hither and yon
searching,
seeking.
Peering and squinting
to no avail so far.
The ending was fun and surprising as my weird mind ran in an opposite direction from the mundane world. Immediately my world gleaned the parental sense of urgency over a child's life lost in a messy world and the need to find the answer that saves.
That's what I am learning to enjoy about poetry. There can be a world of intent and meaning and often on different levels. Betcha didn't expect someone to go so far off your mark, huh. But that's why it's so good. I could, and I could still feel your emotional pull.

A clever response to the challenge complete with a red herring matchstick man in the illustration to lead us up the garden path, as we made our way down the lines of free verse (with some skilful cross rhyming too) until you matched your thread at the end. Very clever.
