I really like this poem about chasing the "Moon" and the fun and challenge it entails. I like the similes "nuggets of gold" and "a love song". It reminds us how hard and how willing we are to pursue these things. The last line: "The moon is always one step beyond us." presents the ultimate fun and goal of life.
Well done and deserve a six stars. next week.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your wonderful comments supporting the poem. I am glad you enjoyed it and that it took you on a journey of imagination and romance. It was a fun poem to write and sometimes those are the ones that catch people's fancy the most. Loved your last chapter of Tiananmen Square. Do you write poetry too? What authors do you read? I'm big into Heaney, Yeats, Frost, Anderson, Levertov, and in fiction I love Tolstoy, Joyce, Cheever, Hemmingway, Mann, Carver and Pasternak. Dickens too, for fun. estory

Hope you have read some of y poems. I read a lot of novels like Tolstoy, Cheever, Joyce, Charlotte Brontė and Emily Brontė, Hemingway, F.Scott Fitzgerald. I like Russian writers and Japanese writers. My favorite writers are Charlotte Brontė, Haruki Muyakami (Kafka on the Shore, 1Q84, Killing Commendatore). I haven't read too many poetry books.

Someday I'm going to have to have a long conversation with you about literature and writing. Cheever and Tolstoy are two of my favorites. i think War and Peace was the greatest novel ever written. I'll have to look into that Japanese novelist. I know very little about Chinese poetry. Would like to know more. estory

I actually had "War and Peace" in mind when I was writing "Last Kiss IN Tiananmen Square". I had many more characters than the chapters I posted. I deleted a few when posting it and see how it works. Sure. We can talk sometimes.

The image of the moon brings up many feelings and the striving for what is often unreachable, comes through clearly in your words. "Chasing the moon is like remembering dreams" is a perfect line. I associate the moon with dreams and the moon has a dreamy impact on us. Excellent free verse form and use of words.

The moon has such dedication to her cycles and we just let her wonder and hope she peeps and smiles on nights when we feel her mood, a pattern that is never ending and her toil is never complete, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

A very well-written poem about reaching beyond our abilities can also be a good sign and we can just grow and find other options that will replace the things beyond our reach.

What a beautiful reminder that chasing the moon is not frustration, but jubilation. It's the thrill of the chase! Once we lose that desire to reach out for the unreachable - the impossible dream - we lose our heart. We lose our soul. We become stagnant. Thank you for the reminder. I enjoyed this piece.

Hello estory!
How dull life would be if we didn't dream, if we didn't "chase the moon."
I'm 67 years old, and I still have innumerable dreams ...
Appreciate your sentiments deeply as well as the visual and emotive imagery your well-crafted free verse poem creates.
Thank you for sharing!
