Very beautiful and such a message of hope.
Life's challenges are always there --
some great and some are small.
But, through it all, I know for sure
His love transcends them all.
How true that is, we can depend on Him

Amen. Never more have I reread the word and called upon the Lord for His promises. He is faithful to every thing he has said.

-Very nice image
and presentation, Janet.
-Effective imagery and rhyme:
"The one who hung the stars of night
and ladled out the seas."
-The mountaintop is a good
symbol for trying to reach goals.
-A very good concluding verse, too.
-Good luck in the contest.

Thank you Pam for the excellent review and good wishes. I always appreciate hearing from you. I think you are the only one who got the mountaintop as a symbol of trying to reach our goals.

You are very welcome, Janet, and thank you for the nice reply. I think it is because people don't stop to think about it. I was an English major and English teacher, so it is "normal" for me, ha, ha.

Perfect replacement for the old now I lay me down to sleep. My Grandma when say this prayer over me every night. The words scared me to death. Your rendition is peaceful and beautiful. Great poem. Congratulations on your Blue Ribbon and All time Best. Well deserved.

Comment from Hopeful2
The sadness of the opening is lifted by the realization of what the Creator has done and that the Creator will always be with us. The images are supportive of the message; however, the fourth stanza seems to be out of place and could probably be left out. Thanks for sharing a message of hope.

Very nice take on e classic prayer. Good alteration and you did a great job of keeping the form and cadence throughout, so much so, that could almost here the original in the background of my thoughts.
Good work

Hi Janet,
I enjoyed your poem tonight. It is a terrific entry for the "My Faith" contest, and a wonderful testimony to read. Thanks for sharing.
Your poem reminds me of a couple of great songs I used in my concert days, way back in the 80's and 90's.
First is "Always There" by Don Francisco,
https://youtu.be/XFKTB12mrdI
The second is "I've Never Seen The Righteous Forsaken" by Dallas Holm,
https://youtu.be/s8QTtPLSM2Q
My favorite verse,
"The one who hung the stars of night
and ladled out the seas -
carved peaks and valleys, etched the hills,
gave breath to every breeze." ... I especially love "ladled out the seas" and "gave breath to every breeze"
Just excellent, Janet. It truly lifted me tonight.
Best wishes in the contest. This has to be a contender.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Janet,
This poem reminds us that God is always there. The abcb rhyme scheme works well with the meter to give a prayful feeling to the poem. It tells of your deep faith.
Good luck, keep writing and stay heatlhy
