Wow, Sandra! This is a very nice chapter in your Grandson's book. The yak really is a beautiful, versatile animal. I bout my dog some yak chews a while ago, she liked them. I guess the tame Tibetan can be compared to American cows. Docile and a little timid when approached. I love your series. I'll be back for more in awhile.
Good luck in all your writing, but especially concerning Eric's book.
Blessings
Cindy

Thank you so very much for reading letter Y, Cindy, I'm delighted you enjoyed it. They are amazing animals, and so strong. I should think they would be like your cows, in that they are very docile and so timid. I'll be posting the last letter on Sunday, the letter Z. I can't believe I've come to the end of the alphabet. It's been fun learning all this. Warm hugs, my friend and thank you for the good luck wishes, for this book. )) Sandra xx

Sandra, just so you don?t think I?m terrible, I gave my dog yak milk chews. Not yak chews! I?m pacing myself a little slower, Sandra, but I want to read more chapters of your animal book. I hope you do well on the overall best story.
    Hugs,
    Cindy

LOL! Cindy, I guessed that! Mind you, the herders enjoy yak meat, and I expect many other people do. You are so sweet, Cindy. Thank you. xxx

I meant to add, apparently yak milk is very good for you, and supposed to be quite sweet. :))

How in the world did you get to Y?!! I think I stopped reading on Q! Have I been gone that long? Dad-burned computer!! lol
LOVE the poem, as susual. Couple of things with the text:

Unable to use wood, due to the lack of trees on the Tibetan plateau, the yak's dried dung provides >> Unable to use wood() due to the lack of trees on the Tibetan plateau, the yak's dried dung provides >> Settlers in the US used cow patties. Same idea.

Would it be 'Northern Tibetan Grassland.?

weighing only about 600, to 1,100 pounds. >> I think I'd dump the word 'about'' since this is obviously an estimation. Also, no need for a comma after '600'.

Love the pic at the top! Tell Graham he did a great job. :)

I love this. You do such great research!

Blessings and thank you,
Debs

Thank you so much, Debs, for such a lovely review, and thanks for picking up those nits, they always escape and hide! LOL You have been away for quite a few weeks now, and I missed you and your book, I was so pleased when I saw a new chapter from you. Thank you for this love review, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

As always, great writing and so informative. Missed a few of your other chapters. I would be interested in signed copy of your book when it is finished. Love your work. No suggestions for change. Nothing caught my eye. I assume Graham is your husband. His drawings are perfect for the book. You're a great team. Thanks for the read. Thanks for the review. Stay well, my friend.

Very informative. Like the poem that starts it out (wondering if you do that for all the letters). Fun facts are in fact fun and enjoyable to readers of all ages!

I am running out of adjectives for your alphabet book. I will miss it when you are finished. You've worked hard on this. Poems, pictures, and interesting facts make up this fine book. Of course, hubby helped!

Aw, thank you, Barbara. It's been fun, and hard work in the nicest way. Sorting through all the information I found so that I could write the facts that all ages would enjoy, that was the tricky part. I'm so pleased you have enjoyed reading them all, I appreciate all the support you've given me. Thank you, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

No nits in your yaks that I can see, though there might be all sorts of things lurking beneath those shaggy coats! What a fascinating animal the yak is, and one that is immortalised by Hilaire Belloc in one of my favourite childrens' verses:

The Yak

As a friend to the children commend me the Yak.
You will find it exactly the thing:
It will carry and fetch, you can ride on its back,
Or lead it about with a string.

The Tartar who dwells on the plains of Thibet
(A desolate region of snow)
Has for centuries made it a nursery pet,
And surely the Tartar should know!

Then tell your papa where the Yak can be got,
And if he is awfully rich
He will buy you the creature--or else he will not.
(I cannot be positive which.)

I've never read this poem, Tony, it's great. I didn't know anything about them until I came to Y and researched them. They truly are amazing animals.
Thank you so much for the six stars, my friend, and the lovely review. And a hug for the poem, I'm going to memorise it. :))
Have a lovely day, and stay safe. :)) Sandra xx

Very informative and nicely done. Wow, there is so much I don't know. Thanks for keeping us up on the facts. I didn't know they were in the same family as water buffalo and bison. I have seen bison at Yellow Stone, magnificent animals. Veenbee

America has so much more when it comes to the magnificent creatures on our planet. Each animal I've chosen, you can find somewhere in the US. I would love to be able to see them in their natural habitats, but it's too far for me to travel now.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, Veenbee, and all those glorious stars. I really appreciate them both. The last letter is coming soon. Have a lovely day. :)) Sandra xx

I'll have to catch up on the stories regarding the letters of the alphabet. It might take me while. A great idea for your grandson. How old is he and what grade is he in at school.

He's 12, and goes to a special needs school for dyslexic children. He is mad about animals so I'm writing this for him as a way of encouraging him. Thank you so much for reading this letter, I've just the one left to do, and then it's going to be published. I'm delighted you enjoyed it. :)) Sandra xx

Wonderful! I do love the introduction containing a quick rhyming summary. Very well done. Very succinct and to the point-seemingly perfect for a 12-year-old! Thanks for sharing.
