Ah, you could whistle a happy tune to lift your spirit - "from gloom to glad" - liked that! I could never whistle but I sing and hum. Thank you for this great reminder on how to perk oneself up!

I never thought of it that way, that losing one's teeth could easily curtail one's whistling, heh heh, as usual your writing is skilfully and knowledgeably written, well done my friend, blessings Roy

An uplifting thought, telling of self comforting through simple sounds we make with our mouths, captured a small relief when one is sad. All views stated in my given opinion.

Your rhymes are natural and not strained. I liked following the speaker and his expressiveness during the transititions of a lifetime. My husband hums even in his sleep.

This is a good way to remind all of what you wish to share. Your poem reads well with a great message. I like the rhymes, the smooth lines, and of course the message. My grandfather always sang while he worked.
Respectfully, Jan

Hi Mr. Jaybird, I really identified with your poem,
as I too have always been a whistler from as I can remember. I remember hearing my Dad whistle when I was about 4 yrs. old and I was intrigued by it so started whistling too and have never stopped, to some people's irritants.
Then like you my teeth went to pot and I found it difficult to whistle, except I could by sucking in.
Anyway if my arithmatic is correct you are a 90 yr. old mam.

I love this Jay and the awesome message conveyed in it. You've figured out how to make a joyful noise in spite of the ravages of age. I enjoyed reading this inspirational and well written work. Well done!

I love this very well written poem you have penned about how it makes you feel to hum. You used great descriptive words and this is very good advice. It does work. blessings, Teri
