I like your thoughtful poem. It speaks of the very human need, in times of trouble, to find reassurance. The buoy is a very good metaphor/simile for faith - to rescue us or keep us afloat. Sometimes we only cling to the buoy of faith as a last resort, but it is there as a constant for all situations.

I like how you compared one's faith to a glass buoy, Mystery Writer. Your image is a good pairing with your words.
May I ask about the syllable count in line 2?
I count 8. If I'm mistaken please forgive me. Does 'buoy' count as I or 2 syllables? Whatever you decide is important. I know this contest states any kind of poem so it really doesn't matter, right?
Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.

Interesting question. I like how you tie us to our faith as something unstable and in motion. Maybe that is what pulls us through when we count on our faith. It drifts taking us with it so we can pull yourself out when in need.
