This is a great story of a wonderful man that you were lucky to find. It is the love your parents should have shown to you. It seems that Wayne's parents taught him.
I found two errors. I think there should be commas around 'at about 10 o'clock and matter should be matters in paragraph twelve.
Keep writng and stay healthy.

Yours is a beautiful story that needs to be shared whenever you can, Patricia. I love the way you presented this. The image is a good pairing, the font works well, there is good flow, and great imagery. It is easy for readers to see/feel God's hand in directing you and Wayne to each other.

[ It was that point . . .]The point when expressed to him I was afraid could jeopardize our relationship, but it was something he needed to know.
On Sunday morning(,) I got up(,) [delete and ] and went to church(,) and I prayed that somehow God would see fit to touch Wayne's heart.
That night I went to bed,[ no comma ] with hope in my heart that God would answer my prayer.
On Monday morning at about 10 o'clock(,) the phone rang. I answered [semicolon here / delete and ] and it was Wayne. He said, "Pat, could I come to see you so we can talk?"
With a catch in my throat, I answered , "Yes, I would like that to happen."
In less than an hour(,) he was at my door. He asked, "would you go for a ride with me to a lovely spot?"
He drove to the mountains,[ no comma ] to a spot that he truly enjoyed. Parking the car under a large pine tree, he shut off the engine.
Turning toward me(,) he said something that showed to me unconditional love. He said, "Pat, I do not care where you have been,[ been or . . .] what you have done, because what matter to me is what you can mean in my future and in yours."
During our date on the following Saturday, he fell to his knees and asked me to marry him.
He had just taught me a wonderful and valuable lesson on what unconditional love was really like.

Yes, unconditional love is the only love worth having. We all have things that are unlovable about us and only if one can get past that are we truly loved. My husband and I had unconditional love for each other and I love my children unconditionally and I believe they have the same for me but God's love is better than all of that.
